It used to be great watching the teleprinter then the classified results in the days before the internet and mobile phones. You would get a small crowd gathered outside electrical retailers about 4:45pm on a Saturday afternoon watching the football results coming in on the many TV screens on display in the window. It's also interesting to see how much emphasis they put on the number of score draws and whether a match was not on the coupon. Does anyone still do the football pools?

There was a good suspense waiting for the vidiprinter to slowly type out the full result

I loved the days of the vidiprinter. You never knew what it would say until the entire line of text showed so it would add to the suspense.

The reason Liverpool didn't play was there were 21 teams in Division 1 and every set of fixtures 1 team sat it out. That day was our turn.

The dreaded plastic pitch, Preston, Luton, QPR , and Oldham all had one. ☹️
