When MK2 came out on the SNES, copies were all sold out, and the only way I was able to play it was renting it from Blockbuster Video. Now, that was another challenge because even though the local Blockbuster had like 25 copies of the MK2 for the SNES, but they were all rented out, especially on Fridays. In those days, my dad worked the night shift, so he would grab a copy before going to work. When I got home, dad wasn't home, but sitting next to my SNES was a rented copy of MK2, allowing me to have fun all weekend until I had to return it on Sunday. Thanks, dad, for everything you've done for me and my siblings.
5:23 i love how they basically continued to shrink characters from arcade, to sega g/md, to sega cd lol. You can tell hes getting older bc hes getting shorter lol
I still remember getting the paper card for MK2 for GameBoy at Toys R Us and bringing it to the front of the store. I think I was 10. It was still really awesome to me even though my cousins had it on SNES and we played that one all the time too 😁
Mk 2 on the Gameboy was my introduction to Mortal Kombat and I think it holds up shockingly well. I set the game boy music to be my default music on the legacy kollection
Didn’t play MK2 until decades later and I now own the Mega Drive version. I had MK1 for the GB 😢 and then MK Trilogy for PS1, which seemed pretty definitive and so I never felt the need to get any other version at the time. On a side note, I had the Mega Drive as my console when growing up, but when my brother got the SNES I felt that the MD was an inferior console due to the sound, colour, and control pad. Only now, decades later, I’ve started to really appreciate how good the MD really was. Both great consoles in their own right. My brother and I must have spent hours playing the original FIFA International Soccer and Rugby World Cup 1995, not to mention Theme Park, NBA Jam, and others.
MK II on the SNES was the first Mortal Kombat game I'd ever played. As a kid, the only ones I ever ended up owning were the GameBoy port of MK I, and the Game Gear port of MK II. Nowadays, I have MK 9 -- MK 1, alongside the Steam release of MK: Legacy Collection :)
