Why am I hearing Brass Bonanza in New Jersey! Great stuff, Daniel.

0:46 That's me in blue getting knocked on my keester before they could afford real hockey players.

Those own goals - those happen to me if I'm impatient with the goalie and try to pass out in a bad situation. Just hang on to the puck and go for the faceoff - it's safer.

Actually noticed the frame rate as soon as you showed the footage, it’s pretty smooth. Great video! I’m an NHL 95 guy myself

i loved that intro for nhl 94 on the sega cd, it was so cool at the time, i got the game for 4 bucks so i wasn't complaining

1992 to 1998 was the "heyday" of the FMV

Wait, doesn't the Sega CD have battery backup?  Maybe that's what NHL '94 uses to save progress on the Sega CD version.

The Player Cards in the Sega CD version are worth exploring. Like the FMV introduction, there was nothing like it at the time, especially for home consoles. Being able to look up each player's card and see all of their stats, including from the minors, was incredibly cool.

Loved the audio when the game was paused, it was like you were walking through an arena. The Sega CD version is definitely the best, only downside is the load times.

NHL Hockey '95 is amazing! It's very similar to the original, but it has a full season mode that keeps track of everyone's stats. You'd see highlights between periods and the TV presentation was mind-blowing for the time.

Nhl 94 is one of my favorite games of all time. I tried messing with the hex code to change players and their stats and such and weird things would happen. Couldn't get it to work, but i was able to put in a few second audio clip of the late and great mike lange saying he shoots and scores at the end of the goal song. The only problem is that it only works on home games and sometimes that song plays randomly when a goal isnt scored

Sega CD was an Expansion unit

I remember watching the intro video as a teenager and just being blown away.  We owned 94 on our Genesis and that got nonstop play. Madden 92 was another one that just got nonstop play with us and our friends.

loved the sega cd version

As seen in the brilliant comedy film, Swingers. Another great history video.

Having played pretty much every version of NHL 94 - Super Nintendo, Megadrive, Sega CD, even the PC version - I have to say that the Sega CD version is the ultimate version. The visuals are slightly clearer, and I think the game is a little faster due to that. You want to nail every one-timer on offer, even though that task is nigh on impossible.
Yes, the FMV clips are ropey even for the mid 90's, but that's part of the appeal of this version. All that was missing was a season mode, which was available on the PC version. As soon as I get round to getting a new machine, I want to replay that game, and play the other mods for NHL 94. I hope there's a mod that features the European leagues, especially the British Elite League.

I got the DOS version & LOVED IT when I was a kid.  Not only was the gameplay it's own thing, it was an encyclopedia of stats.  Came with a really cool book too.

The Sega CD had  games that were the ultimate versions. NHL 94, Sonic CD, Final Fight and Earthworm Jim.

Great content!

My first nhl game been hooked since then

Nice beard, Grizzly Adams! Awesome vid, love me some NHL94. I think I have 1000s of hours logged through the original game cartridge and Sega CD, and also the updated roms.
