91 degree squats > 90 degree squats because more is better.

I appreciate this, Alex! Edit: After watching I realize you wish I would’ve gone harder. However the plan that I had was to make him contradict himself which you so eloquently pointed out. Also 100% of the comments on my channel (though they are biased) we’re negative towards Joel’s rhetoric. I’m 3 weeks into this partial program and believe it or not I actually feel sorry for the guy. There is absolutely nothing special here. These types of squats are at the low end of accessories at best in my opinion. He has invested his brand in something so incredibly limiting and ineffective relative to the rest of the S&C field.

For every 'Knees over toes Guy' the universe spawns a Joel Seedman. Perfectly balanced. as all things should be.

goddamn I did not expect the "stretching makes you less flexible" take lmfao

I never realized Seedmans influence till I saw a guy squatting way more weight than he can handle with 1" ROM and then over hear him telling his young daughter I was an idiot for front squatting ATG because I was ruining my knees ... 6 days in at my first private gym lol

Full depth squat?? Health Destruction and Completely obsolete, unspecific, and dangerous for athletes
Single leg bosu ball bamboo bar RDLs while spinning on a lazy Susan??
100% sport specific and THE BEST way to train pro athletes for OPTIMAL PEAK performance

ATG for life. Period.

I’m 48 years old, strength enthusiast for 35 years. Injured nearly everything from stupid training, but NEVER the knees - despite (or because of?) ATG squats all the time.

I'm sorry, i'm 13 minutes in and i've already heard enough. "Confusing the nervous system" makes me want to throw up my breakfast

I’m convinced that Seedman got an injury from squatting and never mentally recovered from it. When Zack offered to coach him he seemed genuinely apprehensive. Before this “debate” I thought he was simply being dishonest

Im more or a 89° squat k8nda guy personally. I like to oush the boundaries

His 90° method is actually more dangerous. You lose the benefit of strengthening the connective tissues and you need to use a lot more weight, which risks damaging already-compromised tendons and ligaments

A few days ago he made a post where he claimed his "90° is optimal bullshit" and drawing a comparison to Louis Simmons and Westside Barbell. He claims that his and their training methods are so similar and trying to prove his absourd theories. I told him this is bullshit and they only do this because of certain weaknesses and the suits used in equipped powerlifting. It triggered him so much, it was just beautiful.

69 degree squat crew checking in💪🏼

25:46 that Squat with all the plates attached to the barbell with rubber bands is what i imagine Satan forces people to do in Hell.

Joel at 34 mins in: "You want the truth? You can't handle the truth", "You want me on that bosu ball, you need me on that bosu ball"

Good stuff, appreciate you taking the time to review!

did he just compared deep squat to smoking?

Seedman is like if you gave V-shred a larger vocabulary and made him look like a distance runner

I think you should squat as deep as your current mobility allows. It took me a while to get to a stage where I could properly squat ATG with decently heavy weights without some lower back rounding and keeping balanced. Never hurt my knees squatting deep, though.
