As a person with schizophrenia and got it when I was 14. It's crazy. Imagine you see an equation so you write it down, and the equation looks visible so you look at your paper to write it and look up and it's gone, you tell your teacher to put the equation back on but the teacher says she didn't write anything. I had a panic attack in my next period because of that so I had to leave school. I don't get bad thoughts, just weird ones.

joes chat is genuinely infuriating to look at 😭😭

schizophrenia is really easy to understand. It's like sticky thought syndrome. Like your brain can't delete feelings anymore, so all your intrusive thoughts stick around and build up over time.

It's like that feeling everyone gets when you turn off the lights and run up the stairs cause you feel like something will chase you, but then once you get that feeling, it never stops. A normal person stops feeling it when they get to the top of the stairs.

Then you go to a hotel and have the thought where you think that there could be cameras in the room watching you. A normal person would think that for a second, then stop thinking about it, but a schizophrenic wouldn't be able to stop feeling like there are cameras in the room.

So now there are shadow monsters chasing you and cameras watching you.

Then you think to yourself that you need to get a job. Now your inner monologue can't stop so it keeps telling you to get a job even though you want to think of something else.

After that your eyes play a trick on you where you see a bug in the corner of your vision. But then you look right at it and it's still there, because your brain can't clear the thought.

So now you see bugs all the time, your internal monologue keeps telling you to get a job, there are spy cameras in your room, and shadow monsters chasing you.

This constantly builds up in schizophrenics until they are completely detached from reality.
They take meds, their brain clears it all and they feel normal. Then they stop and they all come back because the neural pathways have been created and their brain is permanently grooved with these constant intrusive thoughts.

Thanks for watching my video Joe

My papa had dementia, (not the same as Alzheimer's obviously) when he would pack his bag to go back to his home state, he would always pack a picture of me, he remembered me and no one else, that spent me into a spiral after he died. I still miss him.

i have schizoaffective disorder (bipolar+schizophrenia) and being in psychosis is actually wild. im properly medicated now, and although i still get delusions and hallucinations it is still much better than earlier this year.  it was strange though; i made weird drawings with certain numbers and put them all over my room. not to mention the intense paranoia mixed with hallucinations and scrambled thoughts, it was wild.

I’m so glad you decided to make a philosophy channel, I remember a little over a year ago someone reposted your philosophy streams and I would binge watch them while getting ready in the morning they were a vibe. It’s kinda like channel is for the older non brainrotted viewers you can just chill and learn

5:57 my grandpa had Alzheimer’s,  and the way most of them go, including my grandpas case is they slowly forget how to do basics and mundane things, until they forget they need to eat and drink water and then they forget how to do it entirely, and usually they will go to sleep but their brain will not wake them up.

Damn, this video hit deep. Joe quite literally, explained exactly what happened to me. My grandma had gotten Alzheimer's. First she couldn't drive because it was too dangerous. Then, i remember the day I went to her house, and she looked at me, and said "who are you?" "What Do you Want?" Me (12yr) hadn't really thought much of it. I just told her who I was, and talked to her. But over the past 3 years. I realised. Someone that you have known your whole life, raised you, cared for you, and suddenly, they remember nothing. It's the most heartbreaking thing that can ever happen to someone. My Grandma Passed away 2-3 years back from brain Cancer. And to anyone who reads this. Even if you can't make the Best time, Spend the most time, with the people you have the least amount with.
Im Male, 17 now, and I think about the memories I had with her everyday. Thank you for reading...

17:33 I think with this man it’s the best way to show, “nobody cares until your dead”.

12:40 My biological mom had schizophrenia, she would “hear” me and my brother in vents screaming for helm and “see” us in the woods being taken by black figures. I remember she would check us for marks on our bodies, I’m guessing to check if we been beaten ty shi. She now has been missing for 3 years. I hope at the least I can know what happened to her💟

4:37 I've actually gotten the opportunity to visit a cadaver lab and thy said that the brain that belonged to the cadaver had Alzheimer's and the brain was literally smaller and there were gaps between the wrinkles and stuff it was kinda crazy. So yeah your brain literally loses cells.

4:16 wow that actually just made me so sad.

An actual, serious, no bullshit video from Joey Bart is so refreshing.

My Nana died from Alzheimers and it is absolutely terrifying to watch. Seeing her slowly wither away and forget who I was was heartbreaking. It was even harder for my mother as expected. However, in the end, she ended up passing from a brain injury. She was so extremely weak from not knowing how to walk that she couldn't hold herself up. Even though my Nana died in 2018, I think she was gone much sooner. She was diagnosed in 2009. I think her mental self had passed completely by 2014-2015.

Im an artist, and I compare "losing your mojo" (as joe says in this clip) as like losing your hands as a piano player. I've stopped drawing for years because of mental illness... Closest thing I can relate it too in my personal experience, I really hate not having a way to express myself like art lets me.

7:25 yup, my mom's side of the family my grandpa has Alzheimer's 😓 it's genuinely one of the hardest things to describe to someone who doesn't understand it. he doesn't even remember who i am anymore, when i walked into my mom's house after months of not visiting there... he thought i was an electrician to work on the place, i don't even register as a grandkid in his mind anymore. i know for a fact it'll deteriorate more unfortunately 🥺 he'll forget his wife, his daughter, and even himself 😞 that's how you eventually die from it; it gets to the point where you don't just forget yourself... but basic things like breathing. your body literally forgets to breathe and it causes asphyxiation 😣   it's deeply troubling to think about, but at the same time? it's phycology and how the brain functions, something i love to learn about 💖

“The you that exist now will die in 10 years” I realized this at around 11 years old and it was the scariest realization I have ever had.

My grandfather (moms side) died of Alzheimer's. It was genuinely horrible to witness from start to finish, from him forgetting his normal route home, to forgetting my name, to forgetting my mom, and eventually forgetting that he was ever married to my grandma. He didn't know who we were, but he always said he could tell he loved us, until he forgot how to talk. He was fighting to live for something that he couldn't even remember, he just knew there was something. One day we went to visit him and he was asleep and my mom whispered "It's okay dad, you can go. We will be okay" and he died in his sleep two hours later. There's something beautiful in all of it, knowing that the love he felt for his family was the last thing to go, even if he didn't know who his family was.

I can’t say this enough, thank you for making this channel. I’m majoring in psychology and I take a lot of philosophy classes and ong those classes are so interesting.. all luv Joe
