Somehow This Warframe Quest Made Me Break Character...

Welcome back to my First Time playthrough of the video game Warframe! In this episode we will be playing through "The Sacrifice" main quest and I will be sharing my honest reactions from our live stream. For some reason this quest struck a cord in my heart and I am still asking myself how and why. This is a surprisingly sad quest because it gives us more background into how the Warframes themselves came to be and also what they still might be going through. I hope you enjoy this one!

now imagine being left on that cliffhanger for three years

@asahi8875 11 months ago

lots of us had to wait for a conclusion after this quest. we were abandoned and left to question where space mom was FOR 4 YEARS

now you know what’s basically the motto of Warframe, “Ballas sucks and empathy rocks.”

@DUKEzors 11 months ago

"We're in the nineties..."

Not yet

Ballas describing the most alien possible emotion, seeing the pain of another thing and comforting it... The fact that Empathy is so alien and inconceivable to the Orokin that it had to be reasoned as coming from being in the terror of the Zariman Incident... Fuck, man, the writing will always be top-tier in this game.

33:07 Bro, take a minute. Take an hour. This shit is heavy. The fact that this sad chapter is getting to you just means you're human and that ain't anything to be ashamed of.

Warframe is simultaneously a viciously grimdark setting, while somehow also being a heartbreakingly hopecore one as well.

Orokin be like "We tried everything! We hit it with a hammer, we spit on it, we screamed obscenities into the sky and nothing worked!"

Fun fact the Voice of Umbra is done by Steve Sinclair, the creative director at that time and CEO of DE now.

As a tribute to Umbra, Steve played "Smiles from Juran" Umbras song, live on stage at the Tennoconcert opening ceremony this year.

"The lore is getting darker"

Oh sweet summer child, if only you knew, you are just getting to the grey parts.

Having Umbra actually walk, follow, and fight beside you while In operator form was HUGE when this came out, and is still the only one that does it.. Shows hes still human.

I feel old saying this,
But back when The Sacrifice first came out, the bit of Umbra where you first put him on, the HUD was still showing, giving no real hint that something wasn't... right.
I even remember when the jumpscare happened- I was examining Umbra in closer detail, the music went weird, and... why is he tweaking ou-OHOLYSHIT!!!

Man, I miss those days XD

"Oh, another video of someone playing The Sacrifice for the first time, how cool. I won't cry this time." ...Well well well... guess what i did in fact do...

14:47 nooooo DE broke the glowing eyes in this update :< they are supposed to glow even more than just that, ballas does that when he talks to umbra by telepathy.

@Leo-Draco 11 months ago

Your joke about umbra watching your back is true actually lol, if you go into operator he fights by your side, his 4 and his umbra mods are the the most powerful in game that the Umbra Forma ( only one to use for these mods on the warframes and swords are the most valuable and rarest in game with no money way to buy them till date btw ;-) happy you’re starting to enjoy it but as all the other comments surly say and will say , your just starting to dip your toes into this game story and lore ;-) keep the great work bud and wish you the best to come 😊

The sacrifice still makes me emotional. I've played through it a couple times and I literally watched your live stream VOD a couple days ago, and yet I'm full misty eyed.

Things get very serious, best to prepare. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.

Keep in mind, that between EVERY main quest story line, we as players that grew up with the game, had to wait months, or even over 1-2 YEARS for the next story quest. Every story quest felt like the climax to a TV show series with a cliffhanger, and you needed to wait FOREVER to get the next one. So when Ballas took the Lotus, it hit hard, Space Mum Gon. Getting Umbra, was as if everyone got their own Excalibur Prime, since that particular Prime is IMPOSSIBLE to get now, you had to be a founder of the game back in beta, so getting Umbra was epic.
