Drug Awareness Month continues as we enter the mind-warping word of hallucinogens with the 80s sensory deprivation flick Altered States. Get ready for a trip, friends.
In Seen It, we discuss the evolution of Wes Anderson, the versatility of Alec Guinness and Craig's least favorite movie joke.

All film footage is used in accordance with fair use and US copyright law. All music in the show is used with full permission of the composer.

Thanks for all the great comments. Keep em coming! If you watch one of the movies we discuss, let us know what you thought of it.

Welcome To The Basement" is a show about watching, discussing and having fun with movies. Matt choses the movie and Craig doesn't know what it is until the cameras start rolling, so none of the discussion or riffing is planned ahead of time.

Movie announced on facebook before every new episode. Get the movie and follow along. We do discuss the entire movie, including the ending, so if you want to avoid spoilers, watch the movie first.

Matt, mad respect for asking those kind of questions about consciousness. No one does this, but it is so highly needed. high five

The album cover for Godflesh’ debut album “Steetcleaner” is a still image taken from this movie. Just a little trivia for you all.

They made a sequel, which involved Jessop exploring the inner rectum and crawling up inside his own bowels on the trip to end all trips.

The best line from the movie comes when Dr.Twatberg, who is helping Jessop, sees the maverick scientist climb into his own bottom, and he asks him;

"What's it like?"

To which Jessop replies;

"It fucking reeks, and it's really dark".

You should watch "Jacobs Ladder" its a movie about a haunted Vietnam vet attempting to discover his past while suffering from a severe case of disassociation. To do so, he must decipher reality and life from his own dreams, delusion, and perception of death. I have heard mixed reviews about this movie and i think it is a movie that you have to watch twice to really get. Love the show, keep up the great work

that discussion about the movie was the best that's been on this show yet. regardless of the fact that i love existential subjects like that, that was just a great and thought-provoking analysis of the movie. stuff like that is what makes film truly enjoyable, in my opinion. good job, dudes.

This is one of the things that I love about this show. I saw Altered States once, 15 years ago, and although I remembered the major points I never really had a grasp on the actual plot or subtext. WttB helps to not only fill in the gaps but expand my understanding and appreciation of the film. Thanks!
