IS GLASS ONION EVEN BETTER THAN KNIVES OUT?! In this Mom & Daughter Reacts video, Tessa (Mama’s Geeky) and Lorie dive into the wildly entertaining mystery Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery — and Lorie loved this one even MORE than the first film! With bigger personalities, crazier twists, stunning locations, and an even more chaotic case for Benoit Blanc, this sequel had us laughing, theorizing, gasping, and losing our minds from start to finish. Our Benoit Blanc marathon continues as we work our way toward the release of Wake Up Dead Man, and Glass Onion was the perfect next chapter. This film brings back the iconic Southern detective Benoit Blanc, played once again by Daniel Craig (James Bond franchise, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Logan Lucky), who is at his funniest and sharpest here. The ensemble cast is absolutely STACKED, featuring Edward Norton (Fight Club, Birdman) as tech billionaire Miles Bron, Janelle Monáe (Antebellum, Hidden Figures) giving one of the film’s standout performances as Andi/Helena, Kate Hudson (Almost Famous, Bride Wars) as Birdie Jay, Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy, Dune) as Duke, Kathryn Hahn (WandaVision, Step Brothers) as Claire, Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton, One Night in Miami) as Lionel, Jessica Henwick (The Matrix Resurrections, Iron Fist) as Peg, and Madelyn Cline (Outer Banks) as Whiskey — all delivering hilarious, chaotic, and memorable performances. Key Moments & Twists We React To: The island arrival, which is visually stunning and absolutely BONKERS — the perfect setup for this mystery. The murder mystery “game” twist that had us scream-laughing at how quickly it all… escalated. The reveal of Duke’s fate, which shocked BOTH of us. The Glass Onion structure reveal — the rewinding, recontextualizing, and double-layered storytelling blew our minds. Janelle Monáe’s dual performance, which stole the entire movie and had us cheering every time she was on screen. Miles Bron’s unraveling — one of the most satisfying villain takedowns EVER. The true meaning of the Glass Onion — layers on layers on layers (and Lorie LOVED peeling each one back). And of course… THE FINAL EXPLOSIVE ENDING, which had us yelling out loud. Glass Onion is clever, hilarious, bold, and full of wild characters you love to hate — and watching Lorie enjoy this even more than the first film made this reaction extra special. The twists hit hard, the comedy lands every time, and Benoit Blanc remains one of our favorite detectives ever. Don’t miss our first-time reaction to Glass Onion!

On rewatch I always feel so bad for Duke's mom :(

I really love Benoit. He’s just such a warm and good person, and I like that he’s portrayed as being very intelligent without being a jerk. So many intelligent characters are portrayed as being really rude and cold.

I loved Bautista in this movie. It his best role imo. A men's rights YouTuber is the exact opposite of everything he is as a person. He's a truly kind and humble man.

Girls cheering for the Mona Lisa to be destroyed was utter chaos I'm here for it

I love how the movie leads you to think Darrell will be significant in some way then it turns out no he's just there.

Gotta love Daniel Craig.

The real 'original Hulk' was Bill Bixby/Lou Ferrigno. Then came Eric Bana. Then Edward Norton. And finally, Mark Ruffalo.

Some Easter eggs:
1 - How to find North is to look at where the sun rises directly on your right and sets directly on your left, and it's straight forward from that.
2 - The guy who leaned in at Birdie's party and explained what a musical "fugue" is, was the world renowned cellist Yo Yo Ma.
3 - The people playing "Among Us" with Benoit Blanc were Angela Lansbury (from the detective show "Murder She Wrote"), Natasha Lyonne (from Rian Johnson's upcoming murder-mystery TV show "Poker Face"), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (aside from being a famous basketball player, he wrote a series of Sherlock Holmes spin-off books), and Stephen Sondheim (aside from being a famous Broadway composer, he wrote a mystery movie). So basically they've all got murder-mystery credentials.
4 - Docks should float to whatever level the water is currently at due to the current tides. If they don't, they're pretty much useless, aka a "pieceashite."
5 - On the beach, Miles claims that he was playing the original guitar that Paul McCartney used to compose the song "Blackbird." However, Paul McCartney was left-handed and famously only used guitars that faced the other way.
6 - At 22:50, Miles spells out exactly what Andi/Helen will do later on with the crystal objects, and finally with the Mona Lisa.
7 - At 26:12, the painting of Miles is of Edward Norton from "Fight Club."
8 - In Greek mythology/history, Helen (of Troy) started a great war. Whereas Cassandra ("Andi") was given the gift of prophecy, but also cursed that no one would believe any of her predictions.

To avoid spoilers, I figured this one out because I noticed a scene that was shown happening in two different ways.

Since I figured out who the killer was, this is my favorite mystery movie.

I can’t wait for you guys to react to the third one. I saw it yesterday and it was awesome!

@morgenroberts4873 9 months ago

The smile on my face when she made that quick little Gilligans island reference was awesome. I was raised on that show and green acres and the old addams family by my parents. So refreshing to see that there are still some youngins out there being exposed to the classics

In my opinion, the reason the others kept quiet against Miles was simply because he’s one of those “I made you & I can break you just as easily”. It’s even funny that the moment Helen starts trashing the place they join in until the moment the glass suit of armor shatters that they all agree that Helen is taking it too far

@michaelanderson1476 9 months ago

Love this film!! Definitely better than the first one!! I always felt that Helen should have become Benoit Blanc's partner on their adventures. It would be awesome!!

I know that we’re in the minority with this opinion but Glass Onion is also my fav out of Knives Out films! It’s just SO darn fun and colorful!

Please don’t get me wrong, I love all 3 of the movies and I hope that we get LOTS more of them. (As long as they remain such great films.)

There’s just something about the vibes of Glass Onion that really speak/call out to me. I’m just glad that I’m not alone!

Some suggestions that come to mind are Midnight Run, My Cousin Vinny, and Up (the Pixar movie). I feel like you two might like these -- just my gut feeling.

There's an old TV series from Japan that I haven't seen anyone react to called "Old Enough". It's a reality show about sending little kids out on their own to run errands, with lots of safeguards and hidden cameras and cooperation from adults in the community. It's very cute and the kids' misadventures always crack me up. It's on Netflix, and the episodes go by pretty quickly. I almost never watch reactions to shows, only to movies, but I'd be quite interested to see reactions to "Old Enough".

Okay, I thought of two more suggestions and then I'll stop: Roxanne and Always Be My Maybe, both romcoms. The latter has a hilarious appearance by Keanu Reeves in a brief side plot.

I’ve seen people who claim this movie is stupid because the solution is basically just: the killer is stupid so the most obvious one was the one to do it.

But if this movie is stupid, then every audience member is even more stupid. Because it shows you EVERYTHING. In plain sight.

You can see Miles reach and grab Duke’s gun, there’s even a sound effect, you see him put the gun in the bar, you see the phone in his pocket, you see him hand Duke the glass, you hear Benoit call her Helen and you hear her accent before the flashback begins, and you hear and see every stupid thing Miles does, he doesn’t have a single original thought, and every impressive idea he has was done by someone else.

And yet no one notices anything.
