Squaks park in New Donk City isn't a reference to the bird noise. (sort of) It's more specifically a reference to the bird companion from the Donkey Kong Country games, Squaks. All other signs in the city that reference locations are named after Donkey Kong characters.

The costumes, little side jokes, and really great facts that help promote respect for mistreated or misrepresented birds… Please don’t worry about uploading on a regular schedule, videos like this are real works of art!

Fun fact: a lot of bird noises in video games are actually made by humans! It's difficult to get clean bird audio, so often what they do is they take bird recordings, speed them up or down until the noise is replicable by a human voice, and then alter the speed again so that it sounds like the original bird. So the macaw sound probably IS a voice actor doing their best macaw noises!

Pigeon heaven hit me in the feels

I think the reason Talkatoo knows all the moons is because the birds talk among themselves and Talkatoo is basically a translator between the birds and the player/mario.

51:30 I could be wrong but I always thought the "para" naming convention came from the flying koopas called "Koopa Paratroopa" which would be a play on the word "paratrooper" referencing soldiers who drop in on parachutes

47:46 Missed opportunity to name it “Unique Flowery Orbitor ”, or in other words, “U.F.O”

The "para" prefix for flying Mario enemies goes back to the term paratrooper for infantry using parachutes.

The koopa were referred to as "koopa troopa" because they were enemy soldiers (troopers) and it's an obvious rhyme. It was a natural pun to call the flying variant a "koopa paratroopa."

The prefix was then applied to other flying enemy variants.

My wife loves birds, so I was forced to stop midway through the video so she won't be mad at me for watching it without her. 😅

To note: The reason that the birds and trees do not match up in Wooded Kingdom is because it is inside a dome and is like a giant terrarium.

I also tend to call pigeons "rats of the skies," but that's because rats are rad.

35:10 I absolutely love it when I can tell someone went out of their way to add world building based around real world things. You didn't have to come up with the Salt bird's life cycle, but you did, and the way you did it makes enough sense. I also would like to mention how the Salt bird's life cycle reminds me of the Luna moth, which cannot eat and lives for a very short amount of time. So life cycles like the Salt bird's do appear in nature!

35:55: The improper name is only in translation: in Japanese it's コック鳥, Kokku-chō, where kokku is both "cook" and "chicken" (compare the Cuccos in Zelda). When I mentioned this in the premiere Wren said they should've thought of "Cooken". Cookin', yeah, that works. What else would've worked? Cook-a-doodle-doo?

40:01 i personally believe he's being playful. He knows mario is going after the moons. He even says "no peeking" and the music notes that i remember being in his dialogue would indicate he's using a sing song tone. If you ask me, he's putting Mario on a scavenger hunt and giving hints simply as a means of self amusement. Not to say he's toying with Mario in a malicious way, but he does seem to be acting out of a desire for entertainment

So, SO, worth the wait. I'm into gaming and introduced my wife to it. She's into birding and introduced me to it.

So your channel is just a perfect fit for us.

Keep it up, and take your time!

27:10 I think you'll be pleased to know that "Expresso Espresso" is named in reference to a bird, Expresso the Ostrich from the Donkey Kong games! (Squawks Park is also named for a bird but I see you've been informed of that already)

43:33 That's actually a recurring bird in Mario games. they appear in 3d land, 3d world, and others. So it's basically the Mushroom Kingdom's common bird at this point. They even appear in the Mario movie
