Admittedly that kind of shockwave would probably liquify a normal human's internal organs, but you could at least take the goomba out with you.

-Actually, I'm pretty sure in your case, you would be racing Cosmic John Kivett. Luigi races Cosmic Luigi in levels that feature Cosmic Mario. Therefore, you should be able to beat Cosmic John Kivett if either of you are capable of reaching the star in the first place.

A cool way you might do a "fully geared" run is to see how long it would take a normal human with all the gear they need to navigate the level and complete it, that way there are some stakes

SInce we're in space and you already have a spacesuit, I think it's reasonable to assume you also have an EVA pack. That would explain the blue star travel and, depending on how much thrust it has (I didn't check but probably not a lot) you might be able to soften some of the falls

Personally, I'd've treated those pull stars like hooks that could be tethered to in a zero-gravity environment, much like how I'd've imagined astronauts moving around their spacecraft in real life while conserving jetpack fuel.
