was one of the 2 best years in the 90's for me and the year i got a amiga 1200, so got so many excellent memories of gaming from then.

This year was peak Amiga. Ambermoon, Cannon Fodder, Chaos Engine, D/Generation, Desert Strike, Dimo's Quest, Dune II, Frontier, Goal!, Lemmings 2, Lionheart, Micro Machines, Pinball Fantasies, Settlers, Simon, Skidmarks, Stardust, Superfrog, Syndicate, Turrican 3, Walker and so many others...

I think the flamethrower in Syndicate may be my all time favourite video game weapon.

That was brilliant year for the Amiga. So many unforgettable games.

The wee green duck in quak gives me Orville the Duck flashbacks.

never gave stardust enough of a go to get to that tunnel level - wow !

Stardust was definitely ahead of its time. I remember when I bought it and I was completely gobsmacked. Cannon Fodder was my go to in 1993.

Great list. We were spoilt with the Amiga. What a great machine it is.

Definitely one of the hardest years to nail down a top 10 for, something I came across on a Discord server last year when I tried to narrow down a Top 10 games from 1993 overall.

First, the honourable mentions (and there's a LOT of them!):

Ambermoon, The Ancient Art of War in the Skies, Disposable Hero, Dune II, F1, Fantastic Dizzy, Frontier: Elite II, Goblins 3, Graham Gooch World Class Cricket, Hired Guns, JetStrike, Krusty's Super Fun House, Lionheart, Micro Machines, Overdrive, Overkill, Realms of Arkania, Seek & Destroy, Skidmarks, Soccer Kid, Stardust, Superfrog, T2: The Arcade Game, Turrican 3, Uridium 2, Walker, Wiz'n'Liz, Zool 2

10) Syndicate
9) The Lost Vikings
8) Desert Strike
7) Simon the Sorcerer
6) Lemmings 2: The Tribes
5) Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
4) Chuck Rock II: Son of Chuck
3) The Settlers
2) The Chaos Engine
1) Cannon Fodder

So many close calls that could have slipped in at those 9th and 10th spots, but I had to be strict.

Lionheart in honourable mentions because I always thought it was a bit overrated. A technical marvel on a non AGA machine no mistake, but I never liked the feel of the controls, particularly the combat. The attacks felt weird, often lacking range and even speed. It always held it back IMO.

Hired Guns lost out of the Top 10 because I feel it almost needs multiple players to work properly. It's just too cumbersome to handle all those characters at once.

Dune II I feel just hasn't aged well, because RTS moved on and improved a lot not long afterwards. It's a pillar and notable game, but I'd say almost everything else in my list is just as playable today as it was then (with the possible exception of Syndicate which is a tad dated and could use some QoL features to modernise it)

I remember Syndicate, The Settlers & Cannon Fodder. Those games blew my 13yr old brain.

Frontier, Chaos Engine and Syndicate are my 1993 triumvirate.

Yea, watching these awesome titles being played here really makes me smile. I don't know if a review of these Amiga Minis have been done on previous videos but I'm really interested in getting one. They are rated quite highly on Amazon, but was hoping for some familiar perspective. If you or any subscribers have given them a go, I would really appreciate your notes

1993 was such a great year for Amiga games. The top three here... 😍

My first full year of Amiga ownership, I must have bought more than 20 games that year. From the countdown I had Hired Guns, Syndicate, Stardust, The Chaos Engine, The Settlers, and Cannon Fodder.

Hired Guns I could just never get my head around, even with a second mouse and a friend (although that was good for the head to head matches in The Settlers). My dad loved it when I used the flame thrower in Syndicate (the screams), but otherwise hated my gaming. I enjoyed Cannon Fodder and The Chaos Engine, but never really clocked them as amazing. Other games I enjoyed that year were Alien Breed 2, Body Blows. Desert Strike, Klondike Deluxe (need my solitaire), Project X SE, and Skidmarks. But my top 8 would be...

8. Seek and Destroy (rotaty top down helicopter shoot em up with cool speech)
7. Uridium 2 (awesome upgrade to the 8-bit classic)
6. Syndicate
5. Frontier Elite II (another worthy upgrade to an 8-bit classic, but even an A1200 struggled at times)
4. Pinball Fantasies (hours of my life)
3. The Settlers (days of my life)
2. Dune II  The Battle for Arrakis (weeks of my life)
1. Gunship 2000 (yep, months of gameplay)

The amount of quality Amiga games released in just 1993 alone is mind blowing.

What a year! ❤❤❤

I think I'd have included Pinball Fantasies, Arabian Nights, Dimo's Quest, maybe even Championship Manager '93.

I was just looking at 1993 on Lemon Amiga to see what was released and yes a banner year indeed.  Pinball Fantasies, Woody's World (a personal favourite of mine), F17 Challenge.  Amazing year for games

Another great video. I hope you’re doing some spooky themed ones for October. I’d love to see some of your favourites. It’s my favourite type of game.

Great stuff Brian, and bittersweet for me as late '93 my A1200 was gone and replaced with a DX/2 66, because Doom. But in 93 I remember how mature Syndicate felt. The Chaos Engine I'm still learning to love, the 45' shooting was always my biggest frustration with that game, stunning as it looks. Thanks again.

I got a cannon soccer demo disk with amiga format one year. I must have played those two levels a hundred times.
