Thanks for pushing through to get us a video of a successful deck. The games on stream looked really rough!

30:55 Stingcaster Mage. So good call on exiling the spell!

The new snap caster mage is a graveyard recursion for spells. High dopamine card for me

54:40 I lost on Arena to the Fblthp win con. My opponent had a wider board than me, but not enough to get lethal. My creatures were bigger and I'd stabilized. They had done a lot of self milling and I'd realized that was my best shot at victory. They were down to 3 cards in library and assuming they were playing 17 lands, I had counted their lands and knew 2 of the 3 cards left were lands. They upkeep surveiled with the 2/3 flyer, binned a land and drew Fblthp. They attacked with all and won. I couldn't even be mad.

During my prerelease I had a horrible pool, with no real archetype synergies. But I did have some G/R ramp pieces, and I just built G/R ramp with a splash of white. Ended up going 3-1, winning each of my first 3 matches 2-0. My last match was against a U/R deck that had an incredible pool, so there wasn't much I could do there.

My deck ended up having no rares or mythics, and my only bomb was Ghalta. I also almost never empowered Jace, and never attacked an opponent's Jace.

I had a really sweet ramp deck earlier with Aerid, loot , sicuraclum and the ruric thar and some ghaltas and I was just steam rolling, was a little short on removal in my deck but still got through, definitely could have used a couple more compel brutality kill spells, only had one of those. But I really like the ramp deck quite a bit.  Ferocity of the hunt was great too, man it is awesome just crashing and then getting your creature back lol. I also had command the stage and just. A couple of the hybrid red black cards and that card did some work, I brought it back over and over again lol.

love this format

Rcq this weekend perfect timing as always. My initial impressions has been naya is strong. But excited to see how people are playing the other colors.

14:40 That is a tough call between Kraken and Crusher. Given how much good instant speed removal there is in this set, I wouldn't be surprised if Crusher ends up being a stronger card since you can just lock in that value.

Still, I would also have picked the Kraken because if nobody else is in Gruul, the Crusher might wheel at least. Curious to see the stats on those two cards in a week.

As someone who still finds Pick 2 fascinating both as just a different thing to think about and because the time commitment is so much lower when I'm pressed for time, this is not a set for Pick 2. You'd maybe think that Echoed Pairs would make it more interesting, but it just means the variance in card pools at a table is higher than maybe ever. A double Yargle pack is absolutely brutal to the card quality. I will say that the non-Hexhaven pairs are usually better in Pick 2, because it's much harder to get the volume of synergy cards you want for all the Hexhaven pairs but getting just good value standalone cards for the enemy pairs is easier.

I'm going to have to be playing a lot more Premiere even though it's a struggle to find a time I can play all my games in a sitting. I don't know about you guys, but I always play worse when I come back to a draft deck later in the day or the next day.

I saw 4 craftwork crushers yesterday… I was too cowardly to switch when I saw the first late in pack one. Then I saw 3 more after…

I think ferocity of the hunt goes up in priority with all the etb effects like 2 kiora and konstrari.

Alex, I have this feeling about this set and wonder what you think about it. We normally ask ourselves is this set faster or slower. For this set I feel like this is the wrong question. It seems instead of fast or slow this set “speed” is more that the games are long. The early game still requires interaction and plays to the board but, the main goal seems to be playing for the long game.

13:30ish - I don't think you can skimp much on 2 drops. Too often I get run over fairly early. Black red removal is cheap enough that you get into trouble really fast if you have to try to block your way out with 4 and 5 drops.

The green Yanggu is gas, it is way better then the red one, the token untapping really comes into play, it's basically pseudo vigilance.😊🎉❤

it gives me anxiety to see you clicking a draft pick with two seconds left

I thought the draw cards twinned vision and something worth saving are bad cards because they dont add to the board? or am I missing something? tnx, Im new to draft.

I was surprised that you cut both of the Room of Refuge, was that because you only get to select one color? Is the mana sink for 2 counters not really worth?
