This script is SO GOOD. The specific words she uses to tell the story reveal so much depth to her character. How she can clearly relate to the story of a trapped woman, feeling like she only lives a half-life. You don't need to know the specifics, the acting and phrasing say enough, and all laced with this love for Billy and dancing, these moments of magic in a very real and cynical adult world she knows well. God I love this movie.
This scene is amazing because she acts so dry and is so cynical about the whole story but you can feel her love towards Billy. I love how everybody accidentally show some love to him in the end...what a great movie!
This scene never gets old, it's so damn beautiful & dramatic ! It's only a ghost story ! Then the subtle comedic nuance of that starter on that car, what writing !
At 0.46 we see a wide shot of Middlesbrough's Transporter Bridge opened in 1911 (closed since 2019 because of safety concerns). This design is extremely rare with only 8 of it's type in the world (with 2 of those being in Middlesbrough). Still in the same shot we see Eston Hills in the background (I live at the foot of those hills). Eston Hills saw the extraction of 63,000,000 tonnes of iron-stone in its 99 year history. The iron-stone was discovered in 1850 when John Marley tripped over some on a walk up the hills.
The end of the story is not like that at all! The Prince is tricked by the daughter's wizard who takes the heroine's apparence and he swears his love to the impostor thinking she is the woman he loves. He realises that but it's too late and the heroine has only one more night as a human. The Prince comes to her and asks for forgiveness. She forgives him but the wizard appears and wants to seperate them. The heroine doesn't to be a swan forever and kills herself. The Prince, desperate, kills himself too.
