Beloved character? I couldn't stand him. I wanted the family to be highlighted - as in members of. What the series grabbed stupidly was the fad of camp. Harris brought that in and with some other shows bending in that direction, they unhappily shot their way into ... a limited series. There would be no afterlife. Well, very little. They hired Williams to be the star and treated him like an extra. Following fads may seem like a smart idea - the thing that's hot - but plenty of shows then didn't do that and they have lasted much better than this show, alas. Well, Star Trek for one. They might have done some camp in one episode - but it didn't last fortunately. For them. Kowtowing to Smith killed any future the series might have had.

Dr Smith & the robot WERE seen in every TELEVISED LIS episode. They just weren't in the untelevised pilot, "No Place to Hide" - but almost all of/a lot more than 80% of the latter was in televised episodes 1, 3, 4 & 5.
