I've been following you since your first video and I love how quickly you've progressed here because you're such a breath of fresh air. You're doing great!

nice to see another collector! i treat my physical media as if they're my children and i'm incredibly proud of it. i live in an apartment so a huge part of it is over at my grandma's but i just counted my books earlier (unrelated to this video) and i have 486 here with me. i also collect dvds (mostly horror, i have over 600) and cds (around 150). sometimes i just lay in bed and happily stare at my full shelves.

This may sound materialistic + consumerist, but I enjoy seeing people’s physical media collection (any kind of media or any items they have), because I feel like the items we are genuinely drawn to (not influenced to buy en masse) reveal a lot about ourselves.

0:49 Ned Fulmer getting dragged all over the internet is breathing life into my mortal husk.

I love dvds so much that I recently bought a new shelving unit so I had more space for them. If you've ever donated old dvds, please know that there's are people like me who will find them in 2nd hand shops, be extatic to finally find that film and give it a new home where it will be loved and cared for.

That's exactly why my girlfriend and me have started to expand our CD collection (and vinyl at some point when I finally own a vinyl player -.-). You have better quality, you own it forever, it looks great on a shelf and most importantly: its a better way to support your favorite artists, espacially if they are small or niche.

Physical media never dies!

You are such a pleasure to watch. I find myself relating to you in a lot of ways and I appreciate that you are able to articulate some of my feelings on these things! Love the collection!

I used to cherish my physical media collection but then when streaming started happening (and before it started sucking), I sold them at a garage sale. Now I’m trying to rebuild it.

The only way to watch stuff 💿

I like how we are so far removed from the era of the VCR that everybody forgets it's called a VCR, and they just say "VHS player" now :p
I will never understand the appeal of going back to VHS or cassettes, personally. I lived them, and the upgrade to disc-based formats is just... I will never go back. No amount of nostalgia will convince me to give them the light of day again!

i love physical movies and cds! even the ads and intro content on movies have a charm to them that modern ads dont (love a copy right warning before a movie that glorifies criminal activity) it's so comforting to know that no matter what happens to a show or movie it'll always be on my shelves

I’ve been in a Talking Heads phase and I really wanna get that version of Stop Making Sense. That film changed my dna fr

I don't describe myself as a collector, but there are a handful of records or CDs I have bought specifically because there was some written material about the composition of the album - in some cases practically an essay, in other cases explicitly self-advertised as an essay.

It's also how I discovered music and has been my whole life. I never got into streaming music online. I still discover new artists literally all the time while browsing shops and talking to people who work at the various places I go. I've been seriously listening to blues music and jazz music my whole life and just last month I discovered a jazz guitarist named Charlie Christian in a nice 3-CD set and really like his guitar work.

It's also how I discover classical recordings, movies, books - it feels far more exciting to be browsing a 2nd hand shop and coming across something new, or something you haven't listened to, read, or watched in years, than finding it online. Also, being at the whim of your own sensibilities rather than that of an algorithm is much more appealing from a humanist perspective. Also, browsing one's own library to find something to listen to or watch or read (and in my idiosyncratic case where math books are involved, work through) is much more appealing to the senses and the mind and heart than browsing online for such things.

I agree about Kubrick's film being far better than King's novel, by the way.

Also, True Stories is one of my favorite American movies.

Thanks for bringing me back! My dvd collection was my pride and joy, sadly I did give it away but it was a tough decision. Agree there’s nothing like having the physical media ❤

I collect movies and T.V Shows in 7 different formats. It's a lot of fun trying to find the Movie or Show that I enjoy watching. Enjoyed the video.

Absolutely love your content, there is a sense of authenticity that is missing from other creators. I Collect physical media all the same, and since I do not only collect but watch them over and over I made digital copies in order to preserve the condition of my DVDs/Blu-ray''s as best possible... oh I absolute enjoy the classical music you use as background. Grounded individuals as yourself is a rarerity these day, I know this is a new comment to and older video, but if it helps boosting your channel, then I will make sure to comment and these are my genuine subjective take.

Honestly, buying physical copies of movies feels very underrated right now. We are headed in dark times where streaming is now how we consume media, and we will never "own" it, not even if we buy digital copies.

20:14 I miss the art put into some menus on DVDs. Or physical extras included.

Watching this video has inspired me to go through my physical media collection and actually listen to my CDs and watch my DVDs instead of leaving them on shelves and in cupboards. I'm looking forward to revisiting them! I really love your channel BTW, it feels like such a nice space.
