Seeing the redesign of Gray who I had been in love with since 2003 “HIS HEAD IS NAKED!!!”

More Friends of Mineral Town was a definite hyperfix of mine as a kid. I go back to it still every now and then. I really want to give Back to Nature a shot too, never had a chance to ever experience it. I was a little underwhelmed by the remake sadly 😅

When you play GBA games I suggust turning on a color correction shader in your emulator.

During development the colors were made extra bright because of the systems lack of a backlight. So the correction brings it closer to how it should look, and it'll probably help with your feelings toward the palette.

This channel is so underrated!! Your voice is very relaxing to listen to :) I loooove FoMT and all its iterations, thank you for making this video!

i was shocked to see this video didn't have more views! it's such a comprehensive review that put into words a lot of vague dissatisfaction i had with the remake when i played it a few years ago. looking forward to seeing what other videos you make, you're really excellent at this!!

I liked to fill half my field with grass and fence it off to naturally feed the animals (small independent fenced grass section for chickens)

There was, in fact, a button on the GBA that let you check your tool progress. I believe it was the Select button. That took you to a stats page that you could page through to see farm stats, tool stats, shipping info...

The SoS version was my first time playing a mineral town game and while it hooked me for a while it did kind of feel flat or like it was missing something. Part of that might have been how I kinda burnt myself out trying to marry the harvest goddess tho lol

If you want to check your tool progress in story of seasons go on the tools tab in the pause menu and press plus this is just just from memory so I might be be wrong but you can do it

I love that you do these videos! Its so cool to see other brown people who have been og players and have their own opinions and analysis on these games. I grew up in the ds era, and also got my hands on the gba mineral town. I loved it honestly and was excited to hear of the remake, and honestly even though i hated the redesign and art style of the remake story of seasons version, i still bought it because i thought maybe the changes were justified in the character personalities and storyline. I was so disappointed. It felt like a cheap remake and i have no idea what drove them to sanitize it so. It felt like corporate slop honestly. Made me wonder if they had lost some key developer figures in the company and therefore lost their vision. 😂

I really don't like the modern Story of Seasons looks. The chibi is not how I imagined everyone. It was realistic cartoon.

I really enjoyed this video! My first HM/SoS game was Tree of Tranquility, so I missed out on FoMT and BtN. I didn't know there were so many differences, I thought it was mainly just updated graphics, no rival marriages, and minor quality of life updates. This makes me really want to check out BtN, it sounds so interesting! What the heck were they thinking, making Cliff's backstory cutscene so easily missable?? I haven't found it yet in SoS, so I might need to look up a guide to see what's going on. I agree with so much of what you said, (although, I'll admit I'm harsher towards the redesigns. They just look so bland to me ;n; )
Anyway, I just subscribed! I'm excited to watch some of your other videos, especially since you've covered my faves Tree of Tranquility and Animal Parade! <3

This was a really well done video. I've been playing harvest moon since 64 and friends of mineral town is my favorite in the series. You did a great job articulating a lot of the criticisms I have with the remake.

I was really disappointed with Karen’s character in the remake in specific. She was such a messed up girl in the older games, struggled with alcoholism, rocky family life, etc. and I found her very relatable and lovable.

I do love SoS: FoMT for what it is, though. It’s not perfect but BtN/FoMT has and always will be my favorite games in the series, so I’m glad it got a remake, even if many aspects were disappointing.

Also, on the GBA hopping. You could hold the R button to make your character walk, and she can't jump when she's walking.

I get that it doesnt feel the same as the original, but this is actually a good game, unlike story of seasons a wonderful life, they really took out the soul out of that one

Aww man, I'm so sad I was planning to buy this game as my first Story of Seasons ☹️

Ngl I really hate the new art style for the story of seasons games, I would have to go get a emulator that has them but i dunno where to go. I've never really played these games but I wanna play the old ones to get into it

I got to know these characters in HM 64 and they all had such wildly strong personalities. This remake was uncanny for me and ultimately boring in the end. Not want I wanted for the story or the characters.

Most of the video, I was just confused why you expect a REMAKE to completely rehaul one things to most up to date modern itterations of those and others to stay completely dated...

I am of the totally opposing opinion and think the remakes are definitive upgrades but I have to say, seeing your perspective was interesting. Very well done vid
