James Hanratty's body was exhumed in 2001 to extract his DNA from pulp inside his teeth. It was compared with other DNA extracted from mucus in the handkerchief that had been wrapped around the murder gun and semen preserved in the underwear worn by Storie when she was attacked. DNA samples from both sources exactly matched James Hanratty's DNA.
It was strange to grow up in an era where people were hanged.......There are many evil people still alive today because they didn't get the sentence they deserved.
Guilty as sin. On 14 October 1961, Storie picked him out during a police lineup conducted at the foot of her hospital bed. Because the attack took place mostly in the dark, she based her identification not just on his appearance, but heavily on his voice, accent, vocabulary (such as specific pronunciations) and clothing. Storie always remained unwavering. DNA evidence subsequently proved her correct.
John Lennon and yoko Ono were among the people who campaigned to have hanratty reprieved ……takeing into account the drugs they were on at the time it’s a wonder they did not think pol pot was innocent
The recreation of the crime shown here seems to indicate that the gun was fired accidentally. This actually clears Alphon who claimed he shot Gregsten deliberately. The producers actually disproved their own theory.
When I served on jury, it was my belief that British justice is about finding the truth. It seems that it's a battle between the prosecution and defence to see who can win. In my opinion, the real loser, as well as the victims, was James. This is the failings of the judicial system, police and Crown prosecution service. All evidence should be presented to the judge and jury, how else are you able to deliver justice?
Valerie was angry for being sexually assaulted and shot whilst having an affair with a married man. The cheating husband shot dead. What a dreadful thing to happen.
