Fade to Black is audible art a masterpiece This song saved lives in the 80s when mental health awareness was virtually non existent especially for teenagers, saved my life as well during a dark moment in my life. Forever a Metallica fan since 86 🤘❤️🔥🤘
This song helped me though the darkest days of my life as a teenager. Now I'm 52 years old, a husband to the greatest woman in the world, father to 3 amazing now adult children and grandfather to literally my best buddy in the world! This is the only song I've requested to be played at my funeral. It has made such a positive impact on my life since it was released in 1984. You have no idea how much this one song has done for others as well as myself.
Love your commentary. Sub'ed right away. It is just SO rare for musicians to stay this relevant for this long. So many died quick, faded out or kept going until they wrecked their own legacy. Metallica is doing one of their best tours ever these last couple years. They are still awesome to see live! They are still sharp and energetic. ~Love to you and yours.
Old metalhead here, from way back. The reason metal is just the best form a rock is it is grounded. Back in the 70s going to concerts other bands were singing love and flowers and fairy tales, Sabbath came along and sang about reality. Life is not all sunshine and candy, sometimes it blows. But when you go to a maiden or priest concert and everyone there is like you, its therapeutic. Then you get 3 or 4 hours of just release, head banging, singing, jamming, you just come out in a great mood with lots of friends. Metal bands I feel are some of the most talented of the rock bands, and metalheads are just great people. Once a metalhead always a metalhead.
James had a touch life....his dad left around the age of 8 / 10 his mom died at cancer when he was 13 or 14... He's been in and out rehabs...he really knows the darkness...good to see him in the light !
It is a beautiful song, and so is your reaction. You'll listen to it over and over now. Just kids when they wrote a song that touches people 40 years later
They played four nights in Mexico City on that tour. I was lucky enough to be at the first show. Awesome concert. Concerts in Mexico are on another level!
I saw Metallica live in Graz/Austria 1991 supporting AC/DC. No wonder that they are sounding so tight together. They had only one lineup change since then, when Jason left the band in 2001 I guess and Rob joined them in 2003. So they have a stable lineup since 22(!) years. James, Kirk and Lars are together since 42(!!!) years! That's unique!
