The "don't connect it to an extension cord" is mostly for people that don't consider the maximum power draw of extension cords and, more importantly, power strips with other devices on it. If you have a quality extension cord that says it can deal with whatever maximum your regular power outlet can do (I think in the UK it's 3000W or 3500W?), it's usually fine to use.

I just watched your Ninja review as well and the smoke comes out of the same spot. You even said you thought it would come out the top like a chimney on that on too. LOL

Ninja does NOT let the smoke out the top.  It has the same rear air exhaust vents that yours does. Top is an air intake for the fan and heating element on the top of the lid

What many people dont realise is that all birds and especially those kept as pets , such as parrots etc are EXTREMELY susceptible to offgassing from non-stick coatings, it literally takes only a few inhales and the poor bird will die ( literally the premise of the whole "canary in a coal mine" scenario)  any non-stick pan heated beyond proper user temps will emit gases that although very slightly irritating to humans are dead set fatal to the birds. I actually applaud this manufacturer pointing this out in the warnings . As a pet owner myself I was pedantic about having NO non-stick coatings in my kitchen ... One day I tried a glass and stainless steel airfryer which I had done due dilligence on to ensure there were NO coatings I had even emailed the manufacturer and they assured me NONE were present... and within minutes my poor 7 year old green cheek parrot was in immediate distress and died ... I was devastated and pulled the entire air fryer apart .. INSIDE the lid UNDER the protective stainless and between the infra red heating glass assembly was a guard that protected the quartz glass tube that was COATED in teflon ... naturally it overheated and off gassed killing my poor baby ... I trust no-one these days regarding materials used inside such things ... I burn test them outside AND disassemble them to make sure such a similar thing never happens again ... To say I was heartbroken and furious was/is an understatement ,

On a serious note:
That warning regarding birds likely stems from the fact that some people grill indoors, releasing grilling fumes and smoke. Birds in a cage indoors do not tolerate that well.

To anyone watching outside the UK, the RSPB is the Royal Society for the Prevention of Birds. They make sure our local bird wildlife don't go anywhere that could be dangerous for them, apart from country manors where they are actively encouraged, especially the pheasanty types.

Edit: Avoid the pellets, use woodchips. I soak my woodchips before using, stops them burning too quickly. But that's from my charcoal smoker days before my two Ninjas came along. Aldi had packs last year (2025) which I stocked up on quite heavily.

That bird warning is very interesting. I have two Macaws; you have to be very careful with scented candles and cooking items. I have heard of many people with pet birds that have killed them by using the self-clean function on an oven or overheating Teflon pans. We always seek bird safe cooking items when shopping.

Some Lidl knock-offs are actually better than genuine products. Big fan!

I have never thought about that before - but the idea of smoked chips is a very attractive one. Hmm.🤔🤔🤔

Here in the south we have a good quality wood cover our stove & we place that kind of smoker on it & turn on overhead exhaust fan. Always have a proper fire extinguisher.

2:30 Barry, some people have pet parrots/pigeons/quails/chickens etc, more people than you'd think. That is useful information.

Hugo had a really good day in this video. I think that smoker seems great, yes the Ninja is better but it's not 3 times better.
