Final ranking 10

Certainly in the top 10 rock albums ever.

This was their 2nd album released in Quad on 8-track tapes. The Classic guitar notes of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" part 2 went around the room in a circle if you had a quad system...

The intro to "Wish You Were Here" is supposed to represent something you guys probably rarely dealt with which is going back and forth between AM radio with one speaker sound with no stereo to two or more speaker stereo sound!
The different voices represent going from one channel to another or one station to another across the dial!

58:10 the idea here was someone cruising the dial of the radio to find a song to play along with. That is why the first guitar plays the intro, then the second one comes in.

Pink Floyd's pinacle album.Interesting fact; During the recording of Shine On You Crazy Diamond a slightly overweight bald scruffy looking man had walked into the studio,at first the band members didn't recognized him only to find out to their utter shock that it was none other than Syd Barrett himself.Seeing the state he was in so much shocked Roger Waters that he broke down in tears.

Final ranking 10(and better that DSofM, although I also gave him a 10)

That pedal steel guitar  just before the lyrics sounds like a nervous breakdown . Brilliant

So Welcome to the best band ever : Pink Floyd and probably the best album of them! Do not forget this album was made in 1975 and they were way ahead of their time. Also do react to Pompei alive, Momentary Lapse of Reason alive and do not skip PULSE concert: This is a must!!

Love Shine On part 9 with the piano chords and a nod to "See Emily Play" from Richard Wright.

For a solo listen to the live version great little lick in the second verse. To hear it best listen to the brit floyd (brilliant tribute band) play this song, the lick just puts the cherry on top

Omfg wish i couldve joined this stream. But looking at the time wouldve been impossible to join.

Ok, great reaction, soycd part 8 is actually brilliant . Like u, I originally thought how does this fit?  It dawned on me one day. You need to know the story of syd and what was going on before they had to say goodbye (part ix). I am not going to give it away.. Let's just say there is  a  musical contrast happening here that corresponds to his fluctuating mental state.  Listen to the funk! Listen to the synth that cones in. Once you hear it, feel it, then you understand.  And that part is actually the most brilliant part of soycd.

I could play this album on a loop. Vinyl,cd and now digital. What a band ! ❤❤❤🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Rick Wright the unsung hero on this album

Welcome to the machine. The music industry.

As I’m sure you guys are already aware, but I’ll say it anyway.
The outro to Have a Cigar is thinned down running immediately without a break into Wish You Were Here. The idea behind this is that you are listening to that segue on the medium (radio) that the moguls wanted to steer them towards, and which they despised.
David Gilmour famously said that they would have loved to been able to write a single, but they didn’t have the ability to condense everything they wanted to say into a three minute format, and so they went their own way…..and the rest is history.

Ryan is far more interested in social media than anything else. We can see it in his eyes many times. He just doesn't care. 'Do they talk about me?!'

It's all on the listener.  Love this album, Time, for me is superb.❤🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
