I had some issues for some of the voice recording in this video, so sorry if you sometimes hear the mic peaking or echo (especially at the start). I tried to re-record some of the voice lines but I for some reason couldn't get my mic to produce the same audio quality consistently between takes. The majority of the video is still pretty good though but I feel like I should mention it since I am sure people will notice.

i needed this guide 15 years ago

Can always trust a dude with a constantly peaking mic and under 2000 subs to provide information on an obscure video game

When time travel is invented this knowledge gets sent back first

Can’t wait for the Air Riders version of this!

in the few short weeks this video has been out, "what happens when you get heavier? well, quite a few good things happen" has become a mantra as I overcome my disordered eating

The most interesting thing I learned was that there are people who actually play kirbys air ride competitively

17:58 "This is less of an issue on the bike and the rex due to them already being shit", you have no clue how much this made me laugh. Just the way you say it matter-of-fact-ly. Great guide and honestly never knew glide and weight had so much going for them.

As someone who has played Kirby Air Ride for many, MANY years, I've slowly deduced the hidden intricacies with the City Trial stat items myself, but it is still greatly appreciated that there is an in-depth analysis of the stats, with even a few things I didn't fully know about.

1:12 In this clip you provided, boost is called "acceleration" in Japanese. Since in your further explanation, everything surrounding this stat is about acceleration and not really your boost ability, it must be a mistranslation. I would guess they named it "boost" because acceleration was too long or they believed kids wouldn't understand what acceleration means. I would have translated it as "accel" myself.

I wonder how much has changed in Air Riders (limited demo isn’t the best for seeing how things work) but at least I know what Boost and Weight are now! The funniest thing was going to a couple paddocks on twitch streams and seeing people describe the stats in a way that tells me they also watched this recently. Regardless, as a big OG Air Ride I enjoyed this anyways and too wish I knew sooner.

I have negative interest in competitive or netplay, but i have a big interest in learning about how this game actually works lmao

Bro's mic quality changes more than I change stars in City Trial.

Very informative video that I didn't know I needed, thanks!

I am going to continue playing casually, but man
It's good to have answers

the kirby air ride fandom is back baby 0:21

During the Weigth explanation, that is the slowest I've ever soon Wheelie Scooter turn! Makes sense because when I was young I always picked scooter, and thought the optimal stats were high Charge and Glide, and negative weight. Now I realize I just turned Scooter into Swerve Star, since I could stop and turn on a dime with high acceleration. But I liked it so much because the charge speed was so high that I just tapped the A button and it would fill instantly to continually increase speed (I don't know how that works with top speed, so Maybe Charge boosts can go over, or I was stuck at top speed and didn't notice, but it was still fun and gave me constant boosts which deal damage). I could basically win every stadium event against friends that way (outside of when fighting each other, though).

My childhood meta of collecting as much weight down and glide as possible is in shambles

0:15 My goodness, why didn't I think of that!

the decision to keep cutting back to the stats' list of traits as new points are added was genuinely amazing for retaining all this information. i wish my actual teachers did something like that wtf
