It's funny hearing how concise and descriptive a lot of these trick names are, coming from another game of the same era, A Link to the Past, where we have nonsense like "reverse bottle adventure".

i really like that these challenges aren't really about the challenge themself and more about just showing off as many glitches as possible. its really good story telling to, say, not use Mock Ball in it's most famous room and instead crouching through the doors, just so you can show off one more silly thing in the game. Or grabbing the screw attack (instead of just saving it and going around again) just so you can show off literally shooting space time

54:08 "So. can you beat Super Metroid without killing anything?"
Meanwhile:
THE ENTIRE PLANET EXPLODES BEHIND HIM IMMEDIATELY KILLING EVERY CREATURE THAT INHABITED IT

You know I thought that this video would not be much more than like, a standard challenge run (ie not skipping the bosses) ending with the punchline of "oops, planet explode" but I got so sucked into these incredible exploit and glitch explanations that the planet exploding legitimately surprised me at the end.

54:20 challenge failed. You didn’t save the trapped animals. Restart run

18:00
"Oh hes gonna do Mock Ball cool"
10 seconds later
"What the fuck was that"

Insert Gru here:
1) Do a pacifist run.
2) Initiate the self destruct sequences of the planet.
3) Everyone on the planet die by my fault.
4) Everyone on the planet die by my fault? oo

You can't get any more fitting than hollow knight music on what's basically the grandaddy of hollow knight.

53:53
Sample: Plays through the entire game and escapes the planet without killing anything.
Planet Zebes: Fine. I'll do it myself.

It should be said that not only is the routing and execution impressive, the storytelling in your videos is top notch.

"We need Super Missiles early"

Oh, yeah, you can use Mach Ball to-

"We just crouch under these doors and they give up"

...

...

Yeah. Sure. Not like I spent over an hour once trying to learn Mach Ball.

I really appreciate that you do things the long way before showing us that you could have done things the short way, it makes the challenge more interesting.

HE'S BACK, THE PROPHECY WAS TRUE

26:04 cant stop the a-train

14:00 I was going to say "Erm, akschually the Bomb Torizo is an inanimate statue so you can destroy it without causing a death", but the Bomb Torizo Skip is actually pretty cool,  so to keep in spirit of the challenge I'll have to assume vandalism is banned too

I love how this video is effectively a showcase of all the major glitches in super Metroid used to just not kill anything. You did not even need to use spacetime reset to beat this but you did it anyway because you soft locked your way out of screw attack and I love that as way to showcase that can also use those beam combos to jump you into the credits. Great stuff.

8:16 is the moment I realized that you had probably had to piece together those off-screen visuals by hand. Thank you for taking that time.

Sample has arisen with another amazing video

Heyo !

A lot of people have been asking whether parts of this challenge were TASed, and the answer is yes! (except for the first power bombs, which actually did take me 2 hours). Things like BT Skip and the X-Modes are technically humanly possible, but they're extremely hard.

For the record, I am a TASer, and I make TAS challenges all the time. The goal of these videos is usually to show off what's theoretically possible in the game, not to claim that I personally completed the challenge in real time. I make proof videos in those cases!

Normally I make some joke to say this, but I forgot to do it this time, so that's my bad!

I realize almost all of these glitches are unintentional, but I kind of like the idea that Samus's Chozo suit is just so impossibly technologically advanced that it can do shit like manifest thousands of horsepower in energy by blatantly exploiting the uncertainty principle and generate projectiles that are precise enough to punch through the quantum foam and travel across the spacetime continuum. Like, what limits ARE there to her and her suit's potential...?

Those Space Pirates in the Prime trilogy were writing literal horror stories about her for a reason.
