Had always considered black worms and frozen to be one of the sources of my similar bacterial infection issue.

Tight lines Keith! 👍

What a legend, fantastic show, love Mike's perspective on the hobby, thanks.

great stream - loved hearing Mike's thoughts - cheers

That was helpful information from. Mr. Paletta!

Great show! Great info!

The bacteria balance in the tank is the most important. If we don’t dose any bacteria that balance gets shifted with time and gives place to bad bacteria to develop. The regular dosing of bacteria products helps maintaining the right diversity and balance of the good strains.

LMAO at the last 10 minutes of the show and all the blue 😂😂😂😂

The reaspn you continuously dose the bactetias like microbacter7 is to take il nutrients and allow them to be removed by your skimmer/filtration

I strongly believe that "bad bacteria" will always be in the system and what should be done to avoid/control STN and RTN is to perform water changes removing organics and detritus in a regular basis. We also know that most "good bacteria" can turn into "bad bacteria" according to the circumstances. There is a balance there! Infections happened in my systems ONLY when I introduced new organisms probably with the "bad bacteria", or added a relative excess amounts of amino acids, or there was an accumulation of organics after not changing water/removing detritus for a while. Flow is very important to avoid infections indeed!  The use of activated carbon also plays some with infections IME. I stopped using carbon for years and had infections stopped instantly after removing the carbon and performing water changes. Go figure! I don't like any media to remove phosphates either!!! So bad! I also believe that one of the things that will build the immune system of corals in captivity is the real full spectrum light in the long run. Metal halide is the only technology that will offer the strong intense full spectrum safely. I do not believe that feeding particles of liquid products would help the immune system, BEFORE feeding ANY bacterial film. Another great point to build the immune system is to offer balanced and selected spectrum of major, minor and trace elements in the right amounts to match natural sea water. That is still impossible to this date with any synthetic salt mixed with treated (DI/RO/AC) tap water. That said, natural filtered sea water could be the next "product" this hobby should try!? Natural compounds and bacteria are also great to introduce with natural sea water. Lot's to say about that too!
I do not trust any ICP test to use it to try to "fix" something we don't really know. LOL! At least not at this time! It is only an interesting and expensive sheet of paper with some fun info IMO. Too many variables between changes in that vial during transit and the thousands of other tests they need to deal with. Good business though! LOL!
I do not recommend blow the corals or rocks in order to remove detritus! I think to carefully siphon detritus from the rocks is the way to go. I don't even feed frozen food ever, only dry. Have fish for more than 15 years that way, so... Frozen food is so bad! Dinoflagellates can't be that bad. LOL! I've never had much problems with any type of dinoflagellates, cyanobacteria nor any type of algae. Maybe some bubble algae here and there, but not too bad. I think people see algae like a really bad thing and it's not as bad many paint! Just basics. No chemicals in a reef tank! LOL! No, thank you. I took advantage that I didn't see any comments and wrote more today. I won't comment on lighting this time other wise I would have to write an article here. LOL!!! I will say this... Flow and lighting are BOTH equally important! They work together for the metabolism of the colony/polyp. There is a huge miss understanding in the hobby when we direct a value solemnly to a particular fact. Everything in the tank works together. Variables depend on so many interconnected aspects!
Pay attention on what Mike said about pH! Right on, Mike! I've never understood why people ever stopped dosing kalk. What a big mistake! People tend to follow fashions... a waste of time.
There is a great chance that refugium/ miracle mud contribute greatly to the instability/accumulation of organics and the STN/RTN IMO. The presence of any high amount of macro algae isn't very good for closed systems in the long run.
Just one more thing... frags should be between 2" and 3 "!
Ha! Please give a treat to that dog for me, Mike!!! This episode was a nice one! Love you guys!

Fishing line fence around plants guaranteed to keep deer out. They can't see it and it freaks them out and they stay out...

Would be great go find out the source of the arco in frozen. I make my own frozen so is it in the water they mix w their frozen ?? Preservatives?? Or is it the seafood in general.
Kinda wanna rule out my homemade

Triton are now testing for Fluoride .

I think aminos combined with trace elements are how u really get the color whether ur adding them or its occurring naturally because my nutrients have been all over the place and way the hell out of ration like ive had as lil as 10 to 1 and as long as i dose aminos and traces like I normally do the colors remained jus as bright and colorful as ever but hogh ph def can help for sure heck i barely even test my nutrients any more unless i have issues other wise i jus keep things the same and stable and only thing i do besides dose aminos/traces clmbined is a 20% water change every 10-14 days thats it i dont even have a sump on that tank yhe only filtration i have is a skimmer and a power filter that grows algae and runs carbon thats my entire maintenance routine for my 75gal lol even my sps sgay super vibrant and colorful my fruity pebbles monti is insane looking it has at least 5 diff colors across the colony and like i said my nutrients have been everywhere from 0 0 to the 100-1 u want and 10-1 or even flipped ive had zero nitrates and some phosphate and vice versa over the past year n half and my coral colors have remained superb so i guess its either luck or aminos and traces have A LOT(if not the most) to do with coral colors

Agree on making it fun again!  True Reefer  and a great guy!  (Tom @ CoralFragZ)
