In this Steal Like an Artist video, I am trying to recreate an incredible ceramic stool by Milan Pekař. This one was so satisfying! After a rough start, and some chaotic glazing, I think I managed to pull it together in the end. Let me know what you think!

Instead of bamboo it looks like corroded copper pipes, I dig the industrial vibe.

The red clay with the glaze looks like verdigris on copper piping. Very cool, turned out great!

I love watching you solve engineering problems with a material that's almost completely unsuited for engineering.

Hmmm it took another life when you placed it outside. Looks like it's one with nature 😃

That looks so freaking cool. My immediate reaction was pure awe. Like holy shit that is stunning. Like if that was in an art gallery I would stare at it for hours

Oh, it looks like it has shadow of grass and long leafs on it. I wasn't convinced in the studio, but in the garden it looks purposeful. I love it

For a bigger bucket just go to your local Bauhaus and look for the Maurerkübel or Mörtelkübel.
They are made for mixing mortar and come in all sizes, from "small" to huge. They are cheap too and would have made your glazing way easier.

Rolled newsprint works great to stabilize the larger tubes, I built a 32in tall one years ago as an exleriment. The newsprint also allows you to add more internally to allow pinning to stop the tube from slumping.

Something about the proportions makes me think of doll house furniture. I love it! Very whimsy decor vibes.

I would definitely not mind having that stool on my balcony. I really like the colour combinations, and the crazy, verdigris tiger pattern!

Seeing those clay pipes reminded me of a bug hotel, where they are stacked up in a pyramid with various leaves bamboo and twigs stuffed in them. Could also cut holes in the sides where they join to act like mini doorwars to the next room. That would be a cool project for your new garden.

It's amazing, it's such a unique piece in a fantastic way - so so cool, one of the coolest thing you've made!!!

For a bucket, maybe a storage tote of some kind, like the rectangular ones? They're sold all over the place in the US in different styles

Ooooh some sort of water fountain or basin in the garden with that glaze, maybe for the birds and smol wildlife?

For gardening you can get large round rubber baskets often with handles built in often called flexi tubs

These could work really well as a wide glaze dipping vessel

I like it! The uneven glaze seems appropriate.

A technique that may allow controlled glaze application to large pieces is spraying. You would need a booth with the turntable in it, but a large cardboard box may be sufficient. Recovery of the over spray would be desirable, and I don't know how well that would work. Maybe varnishing the cardboard before use would make it stand up to washing off excess glaze.

I love the glaze on the stool.
It is so organic and looks like it has been there forever.

Holy moses that came out so great once fired. The glaze looks so cool. It's almost like wood and copper melting together

Great job Mia 😁

Letting go of expectations is the only way to let the magic come through, and the magic really did come through when you put it in the garden. Honestly, I’m obsessed with the colors. It looks unapologetically natural and appealing.
