Pursuit of a Killer (江湖了斷) is a hard-edged Shaw Brothers crime drama about brotherhood, betrayal, and the harsh reality of chasing a better life. A group of friends leave Mainland China for Hong Kong hoping to build a new future, but their journey quickly turns tragic when one of them is left behind during the crossing. Those who reach Hong Kong struggle to survive and are eventually drawn into the criminal underworld, where robbery, violence, and imprisonment begin to tear their friendship apart. Years later, old resentments resurface and a trail of revenge threatens to destroy what remains of their bond.
Directed by Taylor Wong (黃泰來) and written by The Shaw Brothers Creative Group (邵氏編劇組), Pursuit of a Killer stars Lo Meng (羅莽), Pai Piao (白彪), Sun Chien (孫建), Joh Yin-Ling (左燕翎), and Lam Fai-Wong (林輝煌). Meticulously restored by Celestial Pictures, this high-stakes tale highlights the intense drama, sharp storytelling, and stunning visuals that define Shaw Brothers cinema. Blending crime, action, and social drama, the film offers a bleak portrait of broken loyalties and desperate choices in 1980s Hong Kong, as men who once called each other brothers are pushed toward an unavoidable reckoning.
