Title of the video: "Stop WW2"
start: explains strategy to stop Anschluss
spoils: will not work - war will happen
shows strategy playing out
Stops Anschluss entirely - war didn't happen
baffled by own strategy
didn't stop WW2
success

The rest of the world is on flames while, Switzerland, Red Austria and Czechoslovakia just chilled in their mountains the whole decade

All of Europe: descends into absolute chaos.
Meanwhile communist Austria with a massive army: 🗿

Germany: "Hey Austria, join us!"
Austria: "No, thank you"
Germany: "Well, this kinda fuck up all my plans"

Crazy alternate history, Austria just sitting there like a hissing cat Nobody wants to touch.

Thsi video went from "We will defend from Germany!" to "We created Communist Austro-Hungary"

This is actually a rare case where the game's simulation works pretty accurately. Without the austrian and czech industry, it's likely that germany could not have gone on to defeat France, and attempting to declare war on anyone may very well have resulted in them getting curbstomped pretty quickly. Speaking of which, you should try to see if you can lowkey prevent WWII by playing as Czechoslovakia as well. I love defence maxxing so much, I'd generally be interested in seeing how far you can get it with other states as well. E.g. can Greece avoid annexation without preemptively attacking all its neighboors?

>Tries to stop the Anschluss
>So effective that Germany doesn't pretty much even try to do it
>At the end so pissed that recreates Austria-Hungary

A fine example of "If you want peace, prepare for war."

Ah yes, the classic portrait of Marx that spawns 500 men weekly out of thin air

On this edition of Idiots of Hearts of Iron 4, the mustache man gets trolled by his country of origin and ragebaited into being conquered by France and the Soviet Union in 1942

Jaush: "Remember, you can't prevent the Anschluss, you can only delay it."

Jaush: Proceeds to completely prevent the Anschluss.

Task failed successfully. XD

Ohhhhh I get what happened now. Anschluss requires Germany to be at peace, meaning the moment they declared on the Soviets you were safe. That's actually kind of insane, also good video and good guide on Austria too, I'll see if I can make use of it in my own run

Everyone starts fighting and Austria sitting there in the corner and are like "what about us?! We came prepared this time. Fight us!"

Germany: "Now listen here Austria!"
Austria, polishing a funny looking tank: "I'm listening"
Germany, visibly unsettled: "we're uh.. we're amassing a sizable army"
Austria, in the midst of conquering hungry: "what a coincidence, so are we"
Germany, sweating profusely: "so you're gonna start doing what we say.. or else..."
Austria, summoning thousands of soldiers out of thin air with the spirit of communism: "or else?"
Germany, thoroughly broken: "oh fuck this I'll take my chances with Russia"
Poland, out of fucking nowhere: "somebody said attack Russia?"

In essence you made Hitler so terrified of his home country that he would prefer to go to war... with the world.

I feel like there's a whole Norm MacDonald joke in there somewhere...

Dude brought back Austria-Hungary and stopped the Anschluss

Man wanted war so hard it actually brought peace.

Austrian here. In history class we learned that all the deficit spending the nazis did to buy themselves popularity along with their rearmament put them on the verge of bankruptcy. Supposedly they were a few days away from being unable to pay their troops which is why they raided our gold reserves the night of the Anschluss.

Ever since I learned that I've always been imagining the German advance getting briefly stalled by partisans and sabotage to the point where WW2 fizzles out before it even started.

Also may Engelbert Dollfuß burn in hell, condemned to reenact that one scene from requiem for a dream together with Henry Kissinger and a rod if irradiated cobalt.
