You ever notice that Fascinating Horror and Fascinating History are never in the same room at the same time? 🤔

I can't emphasize this enough... This channel is awesome. The contrast between this and the horror channel are great. Please keep building both!

My dad took me to see Star Wars. I was 5 years old and it was the first big screen movie I'd ever seen. I was instantly and forever smitten with Luke Skywalker.

I was 7 years old but I remember my father explaining that Elvis died from "eating too many hamburgers".

Digging this format, keep it around!

My dad saw Star Wars when it first came out and said that no one was at the theater. He saw it multiple times for super cheap because the owner was really trying to get people to buy tickets. Once it became popular, the theater had lines wrapped twice around the building.

I absolutely love this channel. The writing, the humor, the whole thing, is just fantastic!

I remember the Queen visiting my home city... we were allowed to leave school and go along to cheer amongst the crowds and the car went by so fast that I saw her head for a nanosecond. We then all piled into the pub, they never asked for age ID back then. My husband remembers waking up on holiday in Jersey after a night in the pub and seeing the news headline, 'The King is dead' and thought, "Huh? We've got a queen", before finding out that it was Elvis.

I love the this format and your British humor. In January of 1977 I was stationed at Chanute AFB on the plains of Illinois. As a Florida girl that snowstorm convinced me I never wanted to learn to drive in snow. Later that year I was stationed at an air base outside Phoenix Arizona. I saw Star Wars at a huge theater. It was incredible.

Another thing in October: Niki Lauda won the 1977 Formula 1 World Driver's Championship, which is particularly impressive as the previous year he'd nearly died in a crash at the German Grand Prix in the Nurburgring, which he survived despite disfiguring injuries, but the races missed had meant he lost the WDC to James Hunt by just a single point.

Also interestingly, Hunt kinda stopped caring after winning in '76 and finished only 5th in 1977

1977 was the year my husband and I started dating. I remember discussing most of these world events in Social Studies class...I can't hear the name Anwar Sadat without adding Menachem Begin. Thank you for this little journey down memory lane.

The origin of the high-five was a surprise.

I bought albums by The Ramones, The Stranglers and the Sex Pistols. An old friend from school and I formed a band and we moved to LA from Hawaii to seek our punk rock fortune. I am an OG punk and he is actually still making music (26 albums!), with a Dead Boys vibe. It was a great time to be alive! I was 19 years old...

I like this list of year events type videos, thanks!

I really like how you did this video, it was really cool seeing all the history from all over. Thank you.

I was born on Nov 27, 1977, so it was interesting to see a glimpse into what was happening the year I was born! Imagining my Mother and Father, and how they might've felt about some of the things happening at the time. Thanks for putting this together! I look forward to future videos to show what was happening when I was very young, and see if I remember any of it. :)

I was 12 when Elvis died. My mother was devastated. I understood how she felt three years later when John Lennon was murdered.

This channel, along with Fascinating Horror, are 2 of the absolute best channels on YT! The calm, pleasant voice, the occasional dry humor, and the research all combine to make videos that are interesting and entertaining. Great job, Kristian!
