Great rock band, sadly forgotten by many today. "Nantucket Sleighride" is one of the best album of its time.

The first song had vocals by guitarist Leslie West. The second and third by bassist Felix Pappalardi. Before Mountain was formed, Pappalardi used to be a producer on records by the group Cream. It was Cream vocalist and bassist Jack Bruce who wrote "Theme ....". Later, after Cream had broken up and Pappalardi had left Mountain, Jack Bruce and former Mountain members formed West, Bruce, and Laing, who would continue to perform Bruce's song. You can Google the gruesome story behind "Nantucket Sleighride (To Owen Coffin)".

Leslie West AKA The King of Tone

Sometimes they found it, sometimes they kept, often lost it along the way. Fought each other to possess it. Often died in sight of day. Masterful writing. Beautiful chord progression and guitar solo. That's all we wanted in the 70's and they gave it to us in spades.

Leslie West is one of the greatest guitarists ever and has an awesome voice!!! The band is tight and fantastic...They played Woodstock and were not in the movie Woodstock, which was huge and would of catapulted them. Leslie said their manager at the time maybe wanted more money to be in the movie or had orther shady deals going on...Thank you😊😊😊

Nantucket Sleighride is the true story of Owen Coffin who was cannibalized by his stranded crew after a Sleighride off the coast of Nantucket. The rest of the crew made it back. Owen literally pulled the short straw.
