I lived in Minnesota for 38 years. While in Minnesota I came across a fellow who advised me about a special type of blue bird house. It was called the “Peterson” Blue Bird House. Mr Peterson is longer alive. I purchased plans for the bird house via the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. I had great results attracting blue birds with “Peterson House”.

Been tinkering in wood for about 60 years now and have built hundreds of bird houses and a lot of hexagon and octagon style bird houses as well, But I’ve always just put regular pitched roofs on them because I didn’t want to take the time to make a jig to cut the six sided roofs until this video. Thanks man…I guess an old dog can learn a new trick or two and it worked the very first attempt🤞

Great channel!

Did you consider putting a hinge on one of the sides or the top to give you access to the side? You might want to at the end of the nesting season. Makes cleaning it easier and you can ensure there are no mites or other insects in it before the next season.

I think all three are perfect, given their varying degrees of manufacturing complexity; great job explaining the processes in a simple, clear, and even humorous way—thanks.

It's mind-blowing how fast your channel is growing. I'm so excited for y'all and glad to be along for the ride. Thanks Jordan!

Great presentation. Turns out I have been wanting to build some bird houses out of some old decking.

Great video and designs. Glad you changed directions on the push block. With that handle you always want pressure down and towards the fence. Safety glasses work best over your eyes not hanging from your collar. 🤓 Keep up the great videos!

@6:40
In my house I call them "Brad Nail Removers". 😏

You can also put a small hinge to the back of the top and a small hook in the front of the top for easy cleaning without having to remove the screws which will weaken the screw holes over time.

Nice job, glad that you didn't edit out your Lil' errors, we all make them it makes the rest of us feel relieved not being the only one. Really nice job on last ones roof. 👍👍

Calm viewing is very nice. It’s more explanatory. You understand more work out of it. I wish all Youtubers that are in well into anything was more like that it’s hard to read peoples minds between scenes. Good job.

I like the calm videos more. I can learn so much from your woodworking videos. My favorite birdhouse is the middle one. Thanks for your videos and the free plans.

I have made several bird houses and I made one with sides like shutter style going down, put it on chain to hang it in a tree anyway walked out the barn and just temporarily hung it on a big nail on the 4x4 post holding the lean to. It’s 3 feet from the barn door and then two days later we had blue birds moving in. I didn’t make a way to clean it out and this is year 3 they move in that birdhouse. ❤ Great video!

Birds will be living in luxury with these things!

What a coincidence !! I’ve been watching my bird feeder on the edge of the woods and have been considering building some bird houses..I have Blue Jays, Cardinals, Wrens and ALOT of Red headed Woodpeckers…as usual your timing on this video is impeccable !!!

I love watching your channel. You explain everything in great detail, and the fact that you offer free plans so people can continue to be in the shop is wonderful. Thank you

Good idea using screws or hinges on top. I just cleaned out all my bird boxes I made and it's amazing how many bugs are in there after breeding. And to see the structure inside is wonderful. Love birds breeding in my homemade boxes. I hang them somewhere I can see them from inside the house. Flying back and forth with worms etc. 😊❤

Always do chill videos. It’s about more than woodworking.

I enjoy all your videos. I always learn something. If I had to pick I'd choose the slow format, but I'm happy with either. Thanks for making things that are doable by anyone. 👍👍
