I've always wondered what it would be like to live as an actual Viking - so I decided to try living, crafting and fighting as a Viking for 7 days. This was WAYY outside my comfort zone and it was definitely an interesting experience!

"Keep the rest of my limbs" caught me so off-guard.

Martina being the fantasy book Main with the "We don't have time to properly train you, you'll have to learn it all in really short abmount of time!" mentality

Viking DNA speaking:
*rows 1 hour
Martina: I need a ship, a crew, I'm gonna raid England.

I didn't choose to be a Viking, I was Bjorn this way

My favourite part is the mood shift from the first battle to the second, the switch from epic to fun music, and suddenly it's just a bunch of people playing dress up and having a blast. Love it.

> No coffee
> Martina's face: PLEASE SAVE ME!

(And of course she smuggled some in there)

dramatic viking battle, followed by a jolly "want to fight again" and everyone yelling "yeah" from where they valiantly pretended to die is SO GOOD

A Viking saying “safety-shmafety” is one of the coolest things I’ve ever heard.

Edit: “Dealing with multiple enemies is an important part of happiness”.

I love these guys.

As a reenactor (even though my group isn't super strict on "accuracy" we aim in the direction) it was SO BEAUTIFUL so see actual Medieval Nordic culture showcased and not just the fantasy TV show. It must be so awesome to reenact this history in the place where it happened, with people who've studied it. "I don't wanna be a normal person" when you have to go home is SUCH a reenactor feeling! You did great at learning the fighting for what you were able to pick up in such a short time!

Audun: You're going to be the best?
Martina: I'm gonna be the very best, like no one ever was!......sorry

@MamyKittums 2 years ago

The "YEAH!. Want to fight again?" everyone stands up killed me XD

@kevinvanniekerk2436 2 years ago

Big Ups to those first two dudes who just own their weird, LOVE IT.

When they just started riffing synonyms for how good they are, made me go from "okay this is odd" to "I wish I had 10% of their chill".

Already locked into this video the moment she said "And Hansi has already been training with the local Viking group for a while". First of all, that's delightful. Second of all, the phrasing of this implicates the existence of multiple scattered groups of viking groups all around Norway as a fun and cool hobby, like signing up your child for karate or taekwondo. Which is, again, delighful. I love it

Edit: I am immediately going to be looking for nearby medieval fighting clubs. If I can fence, I can do this, right? XD

@murcie7896 2 years ago

I laughed so much at the final scene and Martina's panic-y runaway :D A big shoutout to Hansi for being there, helping out, encouraging, given that he's been doing this for a while - and of course to you Martina for once again proving how fun it can be to get outside your comfort zone!

I love that the reenactment featured actual viking battle tactics. In popular culture they are often pictured as berzerkers rushing blindly into battle with the biggest axe they can find while IRL they fought in a coherent disciplined line much like other cultures at the time. The vikings dominated battles because of their reputation and because they had more experience compared to most of their foes.

I love Martina's dyed hair. but. CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW STUNNING SHE IS BLONDE? I LOVE IT it looks SO good. Edit: also that blue tunic and her blonde wig makes her eyes look SO BLUE

That fighting instructor is so good (from the scenes in the final cut). Patient, welcoming, encouraging!

8:18 YES!! This should be the fate of everyone who stands in the way of our coffee Martina! 💪🏼

I loved this sooooo much! Sewing historic clothes, actually wearing them, and reenactment battle, perfect!! I'd love to see more, perhaps Martina could expand her outfit with proper Viking helmet and shoes?
Martina actually going out of her comfort zone and challenging her fears is so worthy of respect, it's an art a lot of people seem to have forgotten these days.
