Imagine a world where we got actual story to this game.
An asteroid is passing by the planet and is studied by NAXA/NAZA/NSA and find it slowing down on approach. It begins to orbit the earth. We see the intro to Dark Chips with a shademan that still cannot be hit, but Lan is given a dark chip by anime shadowy figure and told to use it before megaman & co. die. Navis all over begin to use dark chips more and more frequently, with bbs being filled with positive messages about how easy virus busting has become since these new chips have been produced. They are cheap because they are plentiful, however they are completely used up after one use. They come out of the PET blank. There are a few messages mentioning odd side effects. While we are aware as an audience that these are dark chips, the story itself will not give them this name just yet, calling them something akin to instant program advances.
Post tournament #2 rumor comes out that these chips have had their production halted. People are outraged, Net officials are blamed. People begin attacking others for their chips in hopes of stealing a dark chip for themselves. Lan and his friends are also attacked in a new scenario.
Scientists notice the meteor is beginning to head towards the earth as Duo has noticed the rise in unchecked "darkness".
Thats all I got while listening to the vid. Maybe I'll add on more later
"You can't call Mr. Prog a 'bot' because it's not a robot, it's a program"?
Yes. It's a software program that performs repetitive tasks on a network without the need for human input. Which is exactly what a bot is in programming jargon.
It occurs to me that we skipped over Game 2, so we can't see John exploit the power of throwing flyers in the trash or raging at MetalMan for his minigame.
Also, a friend of mine is making a Boktai fan game that has a Battle Network bonus area with ShadeMan in it. The only thing is that they decided to pay tribute to the games that featured him, so when he shows up, he has the Castillo vampire dungeon music as his theme. Is there such a thing as auditory PTSD?
i think it’s very telling of the quality of the story when the most plot significance nebula has is that its leader is the sole reason humanity is saved from aliens
My theory about why Navis feel pain is the same reason we feel pain, to protect ourselves. Without pain we would be able to bite our own tongue off and bleed out, for example. I believe the same goes for elements, it's just another way to deal with issues in a user friendly interface, instead of seeing 1s and 0s we see combat, and some anti viruses (elements) are better than others. That's why navis can drown, not that they need air.
John really didn't think much of the darksoul that he didn't realize it took his most used PA (though he likely killed them before they got a chance to). It's probably been explained, but it's basically (since you aren't using dark chips like a good lad) taking the chips you've used most often, and making multiple copies of the most used of that list and making less going down, sorta making it so it's simply using your most used chips. It will also register 5 mega and 1 giga for use as well. It was something like the first and second chips get 4 each, then next two get 3, next two get 2, next six chips get 1 each, then you have your 5 megas and 1 giga for 30 chips. Then your most used PA. I might be a bit confused on the numbers here, but that's basically it.
