Khorne suffers from the Bane problem, in that writers can’t fathom a big and strong dude also being very intelligent.

Concept: Tzeentch actually has a huge table of things he can mutate you to, but much like how you can flip a coin and get heads 100 times in a row, he always randomly rolls bird. It's just coincidence that it's always bird.

Apparently Khorne has a server room in his realm where thousands of 1 v 1 Rust matches are occurring simultaneously. GW confirmed this

What irks me is how the interpretation of when the gods formed is purely based on human history rather than what we know of the rest of the 40k galaxy. You're telling me that the War in Heaven didnt birth Khorne, but the single mongol horde of a mortal dynasty on a SINGLE world was enough to birth a chaos god? Nonsense.

I appreciate tricking 40k fans into watching Fantasy lore

I hope some GW writer gives us a Khornate General that cares less about getting into the next brawl and more about orchestrating the biggest, most glorious bloodbath.
Someone that sabotages his enemies supply lines to force him into the melee or that narrows escape routes to trigger bloody stampedes.
Like you said, Khorne and his followers can have so much more depth than "Me slice you into half and drink your blood".

One of the best things about Warhammer is the very real, undeniable presence of evil.  I remember one of the Gotrek and Felix books where a scheming noble plans to assassinate his brother and realizes … he doesn’t want to.  His schemes, aspirations, and power plays are hollow and meaningless next to his family’s love.  The man saves his brother, dies in the process, and his soul falls down into the darkness … where “The Lord of Change was waiting for him.” 😬😢

With Tzeentch specifically, I think that the reason him being a god of Hope is even worse is because he will never let you achieve the goal you are hoping for. If you succeed in making a better future, you stop hoping for one, and therefore stop feeding Tzeentch. So he will string you along, giving you breadcrumbs that make you feel like you just need to be slightly more powerful, plan slightly better, sacrifice more of who you are, and you might just succeed next time.

It's not that he's all powerful, it's that whenever it looks like one of his followers is finally going to succeed in their plans, he has to ruin it. And I think all of the Chaos gods have this issue in their own way. They are all self-destructive and self-defeating, just like thwir followers.

In AoS, Khorne punched a flying city of wizards out of the sky in Aqshy after he got annoyed with them blowing up entire armies of his daemons during the Age of Chaos, and it’s also claimed that he ascended to divinity by killing his seven equally powerful brothers and making armor from their skulls. The Fourth Edition Battletome for the Blades of Khorne also has some of the best interpretations of Khorne I’ve ever seen - In it, it’s noted that Khorne is seen as a “god of freedom,” one who “frees people from the chains of civilized society”, and makes it so you have sufficient strength to make your own mark on the world no matter what. Khorne makes you strong enough that entire warbands will follow your every whim and act just like you since you’ve shown yourself to be mightier than normal society’s rules. Additionally, Khorne is described as the “annihilation of the self,” someone who “saves” people traumatized by conflict by freeing them of their higher thoughts until they become savage maniacs, basically being a manifestation of compartmentalization. In a sense, he’s a god of anti-intellectualism, of people who just want to “shut things up” and “simplify things,” making the world around them all the more cruel and (in a way) boring to suit their selfish needs thru violently obliterating anything that they think doesn’t fit.

I like to pretend Isha's Imprisonment is less "Nurgle keeps her captive" and more "if she leaves, Slaanesh will eat her, so she stays in Nurgle's basement and he keeps misinterpreting Netflix & Chili."

My take on the "Tzeentch is smart enough to totally win whenever" thing: Tzeentch theoretically has the long-term planning skills to eventually win the great game, even if it takes eons, but won't because 1. Him winning is his worst nightmare, he'd be bored for eternity and 2. Among the things he represents is self-sabotage. Even if he did make his master plan to win and permanently defeat the other chaos gods, he physically couldn't stop himself from ruining the plan anytime he would make progress.

Khorne: loves a good scrap
Tzeentch: nobody can know my plans if I don't know them either
Nurgle: green
Slaanesh: follow your nature, be who you were born to be
Great Horned Rat: endless followers

Seems like they're just aspects of da best gods, Gork and Mork.

I love the idea of a hooded bird person breaking into my abusive aunt and uncle's home, turning their entire family into chaos spawn and then politely informing me that I am a wizard before just vanishing into thin air

The idea of Necrons using their bullshit tech to make Nurgle's boys feel how they look is just delicious 🤣

One is the god of violence
One is the god of change
One is the god of disease
One is the god of excess

One is the god of pure spite

Starscream would be hedging his bets with all the chaos gods, honestly. Khorne would enjoy his little bent in the Skybound comics, Tzeentch loves his backstabbing but especially his politicking during the IDW comics, Nurgle might find him funny for never changing his ways, and Slaanesh knows ‘Scream is fabulous and you should too.

The horned rat did get accepted by Archaon at some point. This by playing on his hate for gods. Just so he could rise to become the official 5th. Archaon accepted it just out of pure spite. This marked the invasion of the realms by pushing blightcity. Which had sunk out of the realm of chaos to be its own pocket dimension into these realms. Hail the 5th god of chaos.

Frankly I think Tzeentch trying to get others to believe he could win at any time, even if it's definitely not true, makes Tzeentch much funnier. And part of why I like him.

I have a theory that Tzeentch actually has nothing to do with hope, but he fooled everyone into thinking he does because he actually feeds on despair.
