How to Cut & Prep Seed Potatoes for a Bigger Harvest

Want bigger, healthier potato harvests? It all starts with how you cut your seed potatoes! Cut them wrong, and you might end up with weak plants—or no potatoes at all. But cut them right, and you'll have strong, productive plants that thrive.

In this video, I’ll show you the best way to:
✅ Identify the eyes on your seed potatoes
✅ Cut them for maximum yield (2-3 eyes per piece)
✅ Use sulfur to prevent rot and disease
✅ Properly space and plant your potatoes for the best results

I’m working with Yukon Golds and Kennebecs today, but the same method applies to just about any variety. Every few years, I bring in fresh seed potatoes to avoid disease, but my homegrown ones seem to do just as well as the certified ones—funny how that works!

⚠️ Pro tip: Don’t do this over the kitchen table unless you want to test your spouse’s patience! 😉
