2:13:47 I love the Anchorites' language.  "Foreign peoples came to the tower" is literally "not-me people-plural go-me tower".

For anyone wondering, the rotating 3D shape at the end sequentially forms the most important word from each of the languages. It reveals how each civilization in the tower was secretly seeking the same thing, but seen from a different angle:

Devotee: God
Warriors: Duty
Bards: Beauty
Alchemist: Transformation
Anchorites: Exile

If you didn't catch it, the "fever dream" part at the end was you being captured and put in the Exile simulation, like the other people were. You had to escape the simulation.

despite how authoritative the warriors jobs look, they actually have a very manageable amount of work, you lifted one crate and pushed one cart and you can walk around.

Tempting us with a quadruple Blue Prince is crazy, but sinceit's Chants of Sennaar I think its a worthy trade off.

I just love how the language is structured in subtle ways like "contains plants" = vase; "contains music" = instrument for the first language

The last language was more of taught to you, fairies leader intentionally made machines to help you learn, it's his best invention

the bards are so smart for having a warrior translation so the people who are being warned can actually be warned

The ending is interesting. One object under different cultures can be interpreted differently. What Devotees see as God is Warriors' Duty, Barbs' Beauty, Alchemists' Transformation, and the computer men see as Exile.
And with the hologram returns, all races realize so that's how their ancestors came up with the corresponding glyphs.

I watched the original videos of this before they got compiled, fully played this game months after the videos, and now, I can say this game is an absolute banger!

when you were electrocuted, i think they hooked you up to the "matrix" that the fairies were trapped in.....but that game was pretty awesome

Thousands of years in the future, a bard and a warrior are hanging out on the rooftop. “You ever wonder why the warrior word for bard is chosen?”“I’m pretty sure that it was because, back in the tower, the warriors were on the tier below the bards, and so held them in high regard.” “An entire culture they knew nothing about was divine?” “Yep.” “That’s dumb.” “Yep.” “Wanna go get something to eat?” “Yep.”

This is easily one of the greatest puzzle games ever made. A novel concept, perfectly executed, with compelling gameplay, art, and story. And of course from an indie developer. I really hope the creators or fans can iterate on and take this concept to its extremes, because it's so fun

It feels like the "boring" way to learn the last language is thematically appropriate in a way that carries its own satisfaction

Dude this series was absolutely peak when it was releasing omg

1:49:38 It's a twelve hour clock, so either the day has 12 hours or they have 6 meals per day

If anyone likes this kind of game and wants more, try Heaven's Vault. It's another language translation game, but imo it's the better of the two as it's less handholdy, and you actually get a chance to learn to sight-read its single language over the course of the full game, unlike Chants especially towards the end, which is too eager to just hand things to you and then move onto the next before you even get a chance to internalize it

8:51 little do you know how close you got.

"The impure can not pass."

38:39 amazing moment. I love how we can understand that it’s a joke and what it’s about even with the language barrier, and even with such a simple language. It feels really human
edit: oh, and of course it’s at the expense of that other guy. further characterizes the warriors

"God can't grow"
accidental blasphemy
