My Son Heard LOVEBITES for 20 Seconds and Said THIS… | “When Destinies Align” Reaction

Riffs and Reactions With Berry

This time I'm not reacting to LOVEBITES alone! My son Brennan joined me—and this was his very first time hearing the band.

Within about 20 seconds of “When Destinies Align,” he looked at me and said, “Man, they sound like Iron Maiden!”

He picked up on that classic heavy-metal influence immediately.

“When Destinies Align” comes from LOVEBITES' 2020 album Electric Pentagram, and once again the musicianship is just incredible. Miho looked like she was having an absolute blast on bass, and Midori and Miyako delivered those fantastic twin-guitar parts that I've come to expect from this band.

Another TWO thumbs up from me—and Brennan got a pretty great introduction to LOVEBITES!

Definitely look for this one on my LOVEBITES playlist.

Welcome to Lovebites Brennan ! "When Destinies Align" is about the trials and tribulations of the band, and Asami (lead vocalist) frequently introduces this song as 'this is us !' or 'this is Lovebites !' during their LIVE shows. BTW, this band has toured the US twice so far, once as part of their world tour in 2024 (they played at ProgPower in Atlanta for their first show), and once towards the end of 2025 (9 cities)

I love this song! It’s a great anthem, originally about their trials and tribulations as a band, but it applies to anyone. Asami’s accent and singing style takes a little getting used to and then, once you get it, it clicks and suddenly you hear every lyric. The first time I saw the band this chorus just blew me away. The emotion in the crowd of “we will always be together” “carry on!” was amazing. I love this band with all my heart! ❤ They’re amazing! Go see them if you can!!

Lovebites founder Miho Rosana, who left the band for personnel reasons in 2021, is a huge Iron Maiden fan and cites Steve Harris as one of the reasons she chose to play Bass. The Iron Maiden influence is strongest in Lovebites early songs when Miho was with them, songs such as The Crusade and Golden Destination. They are however much more then an Iron Maiden 'sound alike' band. They have developed a style which I like to call 'Lovebites Neo Classical Metal' which spans a spectrum from ballads to thrash metal all played with superb musicianship.

So much talent and skill in one place ^^ Midori, Miyako, Asami, Fami and Haruna (in no particular order)... But damn I always come back to Haruna \o/

A little correction: In the description it's written "Miho looked like she was having an absolute blast on bass.." The girl on bass is named Fami and replaced in late 2022 Miho, who left in august 2021 because of personal reasons. Still: good that you share it with your son. As you said: the girls deserve a lot more attention.

Thank you for your reaction to LOVEBITES. 🙏
The Crusade" is a homage to "Iron Maiden - Aces High".
The lead track, "The Crusade," is a respectful tribute to British heavy metal, which the girls experienced in November 2017 when they performed at an event in the UK and toured London.
The Crusade" is the lead track of their mini-album "Battle Against Damnation" (released in June 2018).

Many LOVEBITES songs have obvious Iron Maiden influences. However, you should also make sure Brennan also hears some of their thrash songs as well to see their heavier side. I suggest "Break the Wall" to hear Slayer and Testament influences.

Seen them twice now. This year just 10 feet from Midori in London.

Hi, guys! I've heard a lot of HELLOWEEN in this song, not Iron Maiden... May be vocals, yes, but the whole song reminds me of Haruna's favorite band Helloween. Thanks for reaction! LOVEBITES are Metal Queens Forever! Cheers! 🐺🤘🍻

Actually, they only toured the US twice so far, About 4 dates in 2024, one was Atlanta. And in 2025 they had 8 dates in November.

Listen to 'Wheels on Fire' of Lovebites latest album. It is a modern tribute to Gary Moore and Thin Lizzy. No video, but you can search the track.

On another level from Maiden in my personal opinion. Play him Swan Song, Dystopia Symphony, SSS or maybe Eternally, Frozen Serenade, Empty Daydream, Lost in the Garden, Unchained, Set the World on Fire.....could go on and on. I know you think it is a compliment to be compared to Maiden but I don't.

Great reaction as always Berry and it's nice to see that you introduce your son to Lovebites! You talked about Thin Lizzy and wondered which band was the first with dual lead guitar? I think it must be Wishbone Ash (English band) they started in 1969 already with it and I saw them live in 1974, it was my first live concert ever, I was 16 years old and it was in Amsterdam. In 1972 Wishbone Ash had an album of the year in the UK named Argus so if you're interested in them listen to that album, great songs and I played it so many times when i was young, loved their sound!
