I am waiting for the day when most people start to recognize that we have all been sold a story about pretty much everything. None of geopolitics is to make the average person's life better, it is to, so far successfully, advance the goals of those in control who want more power. Still waiting. Thank you both for your efforts to shake the truth tree

How sad for this guy to lose his community and history. Thank you for sharing this story. 🕊️

Huge respect and admiration for Mr. Avi Shlaim, a soft spoken historian who actually is part of that Israeli history. Thank you Chris for inviting him.

Grateful for your trustworthy journalism, Chris

Avi Schlaim’s memoir is an incredible read. I’m almost half way through the book and I’ve been learning so much. So many layers and I truly enjoy the historical analysis that ties everything together so beautifully 💕

Chris' channel deserves million of followers. Thanks, Chris and Avi for such enlightened interview.

What a deeply moving interview , huge thanks and respect to Both Chris and Avi Shlaim. I was a seven year old in the university town of Cambridge in 1950. I am not a Jew but we were brothers then Avi and we are brothers now because we believe in universal human rights. You are right truth are love are only accessible through acceptance of equal rights for all our brothers and sisters irrespective of ethnicity, religion or nationality.

This is a beautiful interview. I cried half the time as I was watching. His story matches almost exactly the testimony I have heard over the last twenty years from Jewish people originally from the Middle East and North Africa who left their homelands where they were very well integrated to move to Israel where they were not well accepted. They mostly left Israel after a few years for the U.S. or the U.K. or elsewhere. Most still had a fondness for their original homelands that have suffered greatly in the last 100 years from economic and political instability/interference and warfare, so they felt like they couldn't return to the life they had because that world was destroyed.

I immediately ordered Professor Shlaim's book. It sounds like an awesome read. I also ordered another book (on this very topic) by author Ariel Sabar, entitled My Father's Paradise, which I heard about years ago (circa 2008) in a C-SPAN interview with the book's author. It is the biography of his Jewish father who was from the Kurdish area of northern Iraq, whose story was similar. His father, Yona Sabar, became a professor of Aramaic language studies at UCLA. He is still alive.  I hope Chris has the chance to interview the author and his father about the book.

I've watched a number of interviews with Avi Shlaim but I get the feeling Chris is the only one who actually read his book. Glad to see Chris finally finding his groove doing a truly independent show.

I read his memoir and it's really quite sad, the life they lost

Bless you, wise men. History will look kindly on you and your courage.

Prof. Schlaim is a true treasure, and Mr. Hedges is one of a kind journalist.
Thank you both for this riveting recount of history. Free Palestine 🇵🇸.

This is such a humble, intelligent, informed man. Why would anyone doubt him.

Thank you Chris for having Avi Schlaim talk about his life experience and his book. Very educational.

I just discovered Chris Hedges and I am incredibly thankful and excited to review the many excellent works he has put together with so many experts.

This is one of the most revealing and important interviews of our tumultuous time.

Thank you, Chris Hedges, for this extraordinary interview with the author and historian Avi Shalim. With all the books that I have read about the history of the creation of the state of Israel, this is another book that will go in my library.
With deep appreciation and respect for this discourse between both of you.
