Probably she should've explained that on the left side she used watercolors that were out of camera view, and she wasn't actually spreading the color of the Neocolor 1 since they're not water soluble. Neocolor 2 is a water soluble wax based pastel. If you want something to draw on top of acrylic paint, and don't want it to be reactivated by water, use the Neo 1.

Thanks, Leah. This was very helpful. I agree - everybody talks about the Neocolor IIs, and there is very little mention (comparatively) about the Is. I was specifically looking for something that was NOT water-soluble for my mixed media work. I bought them and am now looking for videos on how to best use them to their best effect. 😊

FYI You can use the Derwent blender pen to activate the Neocolor I, to use like Neocolor 2. Other blenm may work but I the Derwent blender pen is all I had at the time, and it worked well. I had bought the Neo1’s accidentally, and I didn’t notice until after the return window had closed. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it worked, and that pen has no harsh odor.

The first pic on left said neo 1 but you activated wth water.. how does that work? I thought only the neo II could work like that. Both looked the same on your eg.

Since the neocolor 2 were marketed as aquarelle, I had no idea the 1 were water soluble and used with water as well. Originally, I was looking to buy the Neocolor 2 because of the versatility, but it looks like the 2s are now sold with a different tin, not the classic red. Now that I've seen them in action, I think I'll go for the classic because i like the less blended look when used with water (and it still has the red tin). 😊

So, are the Neocolor 1's being disolved with a brush with A TURPENTINE LIKE solvant? Or are Neocolor 1's ALSO WATER SOLUABLE, LIKE THE NEOCOLOR 2S ARE? SORRY, BUT YOUR VIDEO IS NOT AT ALL CLEAR.......................................
