Professional DIY Plastic Repair on a John Deere X300 Hood - Step by Step From Start to Finish!
I'll show you how to fix a broken or cracked plastic hood on a John Deere X300 mower. This process is the same on a lot of plastic items, from car bumpers to trim pieces.
The result is fantastic, and all it takes is a little ambition and time to get it done.
No paint was used outside of this hood ~~and~~ I DO NOT suggest using paint on the outside. The paint will flake and chip off very quickly when used on the outside surface.

You can do a lot more to the outside of this hood to hide the crack better but this is a riding mower!

The best description I’ve heard for John Deere hoods are: "They're made of green potato chips and egg shells". For the high price they're charging for their hoods it would be SOOOO much better if they were made of aluminum or some other more durable material rather than brittle plastic. Canoes and kayaks are made of molded polyethylene resins that are strong (they smash into rocks and don't break), light-weight and inexpensive. John Deere needs to get their act together and stop ripping off their customers.

I have been repairing plastic by welding and embedding stainless steel screen wire for reinforcement. Your video is the first I have seen of the gun you used. Definitely going to get one.
