The tip about cutting off the metal clips at 11:04 really helps clean up the final look.

Put the staples in parallel instead of perpendicular to the crack. It's stronger that way

Subscribed! I’m looking to get a plastic welding kit for small projects. I was looking at the soldering iron types with the little copper iron shaped bit on the end. It after seeing your video I might go this way. First time on your channel. Great video. Straight to the point. That’s what I like. Thanks!

Good idea to use Dremel to cut pins off.

Good tutorial. I have a plastic welder but haven't used it yet. Prior I have stitched with the zip ties lol.

Snapping the ends of the staples (pull outwards/away from the center) is the cleanest result, followed by Dremel, followed by clips

@garyt1119 1 month ago

When clipping off all the "ends", to stop them flying either use duck tape, plasticine, or a dab of hot melt glue. The glue and plasticine can also be used to hold the parts in the correct place before welding. Polystyrene foam dissolved in acetone can be used to infill if you have missing pieces. Good vid.

Mine just arrived - my goal is to fix 10 year old fridge bins, bumper after teenager bumped something three years ago , lawn mower battery cover. To be continued.

Just got mine. Allturn from Amazon. I’m highly mechanically inclined..20yrs on the Railroad somewhat(lol)quality me for most things mechanical. Hope my son’s front bumper turns out good from the use. Thx for the video!!!!

How long do you need to wait - for the tip of the gun to cool down - to insert another staple? How can you know when it's not too hot?

@steve955smith 8 days ago

The staples you don't know are used perpendicular to the crack at end points, the ones you're using go horizontal!

@andrej2321 4 months ago

This is good and very safe, but could be improved. Don’t be afraid to sink these just a tad more and rotate them just a slight bit. There are also better tapes to use (e.g. aluminum) if you are using these staples just to hold your piece to be aligned perfectly before using some other and more aggressive plastic welding methods.

Other videos show using the corresponding type of plastic for fillers d. Do you do that?

Nice video, thank you for making it. I have a Refrigerator door hanger (W10861519 Deli Drawer Hanger, Refrigerator Meat Drawer Shelf Holder for Whirlpool WRT148/WRT311/WRT318, Replaces W10628698, 4382323, AP5999492). The crack is small, but goes all the way across the support piece, on one side at the frond of the hanger. The hanger holds the weight of the door, but the plasic is pretty thin. Would you recommend using the flat iron welder and smooth it over or the zigzag nail to patch it across the crack as you did in this video?
