I'm watching a dude, disguised as another dude, watching ANOTHER dude playing a dude disguised as another dude!!

The "I don't read scripts, the script reads me." Comment wasn't any kind of commentary on Black people, it was him being a prima donna actor that is too good to read a script.

I just showed this to my father on thanksgiving. He is 63 years old, loved blazing saddles and all the classic comedies, he did 30 years in the military. Dude had never seen anything from this movie. Mans was giggling like a twelve-year old girl.
A damn delightful time

The joke isn’t that black actors don’t read scripts, it’s about method actors and how off they go embodying the characters

The funniest part is on the secondary audio track of DVD commentary. RDJ started talking in the black sergeant’s voice, then when he took the wig off, he switched to the Australian voice, then when his name is shown in the credits, he finally switches to his voice….thus not dropping character until he’s done the DVD commentary! Pure comedy genius!

For me this is Tom Cruise's greatest role.

Gotta give it up for RDJ, he was just coming back from his addictions, and he nailed this parody so well, he's neither Black nor Australian, and I think he was hilarious!

A lot of us grew up with him, it was nice to see his comeback!

The movie was not saying that black people don't read scripts. The joke is that robert downey jr's character is a Method Actor and method actors are people who get totally  absorbed into the role that they're playing that even inbetween shoots they still stay in characte. The humor is that even when they're not filming the movie he's stilll playing that character... so the line, " i don't read scripts scripts read me." As much like his earlier line, " i don't drop the character into the d.V d commentary's been done" is basically making fun of method acting being completely self absorbed. There are Hollywood stories of notorious method actors who won't talk or interact with the crew during the whole movie except as the character they are playing. So to robert downey junior's character the script isnt important.... he's important... nothing to do with black people not reading scripts...

This doesn't need a sequel. It's worked fine as a stand-alone this long, and should stay that way. Nightmare Before Christmas has been one of my favorite movie since it came out. And in recent years, the fact that it's remained a stand-alone for so long has made me appreciate it even more.

In case you didn't pick up on it, Pecker took the deal for the G5 and used it to fly to Vietnam to rescue Tugg. He got his cake & ate it too.

"Hold on, this is how the movie starts?!" Oh this gon' be good.

And yes, imagine being in a theater with a bunch of trailers and then it just transitions into these fake ones. Never seen another movie do it this way; it was such a great way to create backstories for the "actors" in the movie, too.

The "I don't read the script" part is because Kirk Lazarus (Downey Jr.) is such an amazing actor. Full of arrogance.

He does indeed do the commentary as Lincon Osiris. If you only ever watch one movie commentary it's this one. It's just as funny as the film. Stiller, Black, and RDJ absolutely kill it

You’d  have to see apocalypse now, saving private Ryan, deer hunter, we were soldiers, mission impossible, platoon, Indiana jones, full metal jacket, Rambo etc to get all the references and parody.

This was the last true comedy I saw in theaters and I didnt even know RDJ was. Life was so much more rewarding back then.

Tom Cruise based his character on Harvey Weinstein before the Me too fiasco!

One of the last scenes where RDJ and Stiller talked in the shed face to face was improvised. Great actors.

The only people that say this movie is controversial, are the people saying that other people are saying it's controversial 😂 Everybody loves this!

I had the pleasure of seeing this in theaters. And bruh, those trailers at the beginning started cold started because the move blended right in with the real movie trailers. None of us understood that booty sweat ad, then the next fake trailer started, and the theater was out of control. I almost died twice from not breathing watching this the first time.
