In this video I go through every game jam project I've made. Whether it's a game development competition for Blackthornprod, a Gamemaker's Toolkit Game Jam, or just a friendly competition at the Game Dev club at my school, I show my entire journey. I talk about how I go from theme to idea to finished video game, creative breakthroughs and hurdles I've had, and my key learnings from making 10 small video games.

I made 90% of these games using an engine called Construct 3 in case you’re wondering. It’s a visual programming game engine, which has been perfect for helping me learn. If you wanna try it out they have a free trial:

I think a really underrated point from this video early on is that it is really easy to make hard games, especially when it comes to making player controllers. Making games for jams easier than you think is a great tip.

I never realized you were the dice game guy- I used to watch your content around 4 years ago and rediscovered your channel cuz of the vampire game, it never clicked in my brain that you’re the same person till now

I always have two versions of jam games. The one on my screen and the one in my head but I've learned to not let comparison kill your progress.

my biggest problem is finding a game jam in the first place. Then the one time I finally got into one, my partner heard "2d artist" and started giving me 3d tasks despite me saying I dont have those skills. And he thought I should be able to pick it up in two seconds. SIGH

to clarify, i do know my way around 3D software, it just takes me two weeks to finish one prop cus Im still much slower with that sort of creation. Which is why I said I'll do a jam as a 2d artist, since I already have those skills

This is very insightful! Also I really like the idea of An Eggcelent Game. I really like how you came up with the idea of not breaking an egg from "Take care" theme. Really unique!

My first game jam was your game jam that you recently hosted, Jerbob’s Silly Jam, and it was ROUGH. Since I have no coding experience, my friend did all the coding, and I did all the art, but the idea was too ambitious, and he couldn’t figure out how to code it, my art wouldn’t import into the game engine, and he had an issue with his microphone and we couldn’t communicate for most of the jam. I ended up getting overwhelmed and kind of gave up halfway through and my friend reworked the game into a completely different game. I’m not going to enter another game jam until I have more experience, but I had a lot of fun doing your game jam!
