I was sitting on my grandmother's porch when it was announced on the radio that Flynn had died.  The next song played was "Mr. Lucky" (by Henry Mancini).  I have associated that song with Errol ever since.

I'm Canada's # 1 Errol Flynn fan.  Cheers.

Errol Flynn Had A Interview Tape Voice Career By A Experienced Film Historian.Great Efforts.A+

I was born and reared in Dodge City KS do his film Dodge City is my favorite! When he came to Dodge City  people flocked to Dodge City to see him!

Bruce Cabot owed Flynn for many supporting roles in Flynn's films. When the Italian financiers to William Tell fell through with the film's finances, Cabot sued Flynn, taking Flynn's cars and Flynn's wife clothes as collateral. Cabot - a real stand-up guy. But after that Flynn said he didn't want to meet up with Cabot because he was afraid he'd kill Cabot. They never met after that.

As a kid, they showed  movies from the 40s & 50s on TV during the 60s. Encluding  those of Errol Flynn. When they started making VHS , I collected all but four  his movies.

The photo of the actress in William Tell was Waltraus Haus an Austrian actress who passed away only recently (in April 2025) .
Thanks for the posting it was a sad  time in the last few years of his life.He had many regrets but he had lived a full life.

This was excellent!

Bogart died in 1957.  Power died in 1958, and Flynn in 1959.

2 days before Flynn died, he gave an interview with Canadian television and even then he still supported Fidel and his brother Raoul Castro. I saw the interview recently on YouTube .

Haven’t had the pleasure of actually seeing your book Robert which looks very impressive from online clips…regarding WILLIAM TELL, a letter from HERBERT WILCOX has emerged online in which the British producer is genuinely keen to take over the Tell project in ‘55,switching production to Yugoslavia…

Gable was 1960 & Gary Cooper was 1961

"Australia officially became a federation on 1 January 1901. This is often seen as the beginning of Australia’s path to independence. The six colonies—New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, and Tasmania—united to form the Commonwealth of Australia. The federal parliament was established, but Australia remained part of the British Empire. At this point, the country had its own constitution and government, but the British monarchy still had a say in key decisions, including foreign policy and defense.

The Statute of Westminster 1931
A significant step towards Australia’s independence was the Statute of Westminster in 1931. This British law gave Australia (and other dominions like Canada and New Zealand) full legal freedom, allowing it to make its own laws without needing approval from the British Parliament. However, Australia didn’t adopt this statute immediately. It wasn’t until 1942, during World War II, that Australia officially implemented the Statute of Westminster, taking control of its own legislative affairs.

This marked a pivotal moment in Australia’s sovereignty, as it could now govern itself more fully, especially in matters concerning foreign policy and war. But there was still more to come.

The Australia Act 1986
Although the Statute of Westminster granted legislative independence, Australia still had ties to Britain through its courts. Australian legal appeals could still be taken to the British Privy Council. It wasn’t until the Australia Act was passed in 1986 that Australia severed these final legal ties. This act ended the British Parliament’s ability to legislate for Australia and eliminated appeals to the Privy Council, making the High Court of Australia the final court of appeal."

I think because of this life he lives off screen he became more than a film star...charming and charismatic... fantastic looking man but maybe it all came to easy...total lack of discipline...cliche is they don't make them like that anymore and with Errol flynn this is correct maybe more than any other film star... fantastic interview...I'm gonna see if I can get Roberts book in the UK... My favorite year is based on mel Brooks who looked after Flynn for a week...good film too..

Your dates of these stars passing is incorrect.
Interesting presentation though
Thanks for the posting.
Humphrey Bogart passed in 1957
Tyrone Power in 1958
Errol Flynn in October 1959.
And the King of Hollywood Clark Gable sadly passed in 1960.
We lost the best in those 3 years.

Coincido con el escritor, si Rocky Montain hubiera sido hecho en tecnicolor, habría tenido mayor éxito de taquilla. Deberían hacer un remake, el problema es, en dónde se consigue un actor algo parecido a Flynn.

Never heard of this film

Australia was founded as a British penal colony, before becoming a colony proper and then a member of the Commonwealth.

I can't believe you have this GREAT guest, really interesting book/guest, and you keep interrupting him and talking about anything BUT the final years of flynn!..Did we really need the whole plot of "rocky mountain" recounted?   Non relevant points about environmental films?  Why not listen?  and speak less...Would have LOVED to hear more from Florczak...!  He must have so many anecdotes he could have shared. Glad you have a channel for such topics but stories about you in an airport being picked up by Tyrone Powers?  What does that have to do with the book or the final years of flynn?   Its bad interviewing and indulgent. Need a better zoom setup too.  your head kept disappearing in slices....Willian Tell is a legendary swiss folk hero story.  Nothing to do with the music, Willian tell overture in an opera from 1829?  No connection at all ..Background on Bruce Cabot?, who cares, they were friends until he sued him...  Sharing your POV on Black & White "Twilight Zone"?? Gosh what we could have learned about Flynn's final years....do better, make the interview-y the star, ....AND you never SHOW THE BOOK OR PROVIDE A LINK TO IT!!!!  geeeeeez!!

Thanks for this. BTW, the United Kingdom is made up of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Not Australia.
