So, in middle school me and my two friends while working in home ec class decided it would be really really funny to start a "cult". We called it the "Cult of the OwO" and the only thing we did was write OwO on the inside of our wrist and and greeted each other by holding our wrist up and saying "OwO". We thought it wouldn't go anywhere but holy god, it spread across the school like wildfire. Kids that I've never spoken to before, the jocks, the cool kids, EVERYONE WAS DOING IT. It lasted three days before the school had to make an ANNOUNCEMENT to make it stop. I am still so so proud.

My elementary school banned tag, “temporarily”, because there was snow on the ground and they didn’t want anyone slipping or something. Apparently a group of third graders were so insulted by this they spent all recess stockpiling snowballs and then threw them at the principal when he came outside. Then proceeded to play tag anyways.

7:23 this segment hits different as someone who works in a kindergarten. i see those kids every weekday and am shocked by how small they are every time anyway, and now i am going to have a terrible time not laughing as i recall this when at work. how the hell will i explain to my coworkers that im giggling because i am imagining the kids throwing fruit the size of their heads at other kids heads

Pink was ORIGINALLY a “male”  colour since it was close to red, which was also considered a very masculine colour as opposed to blue which was seen as a very feminine colour. :) I don’t know the specifics but at some point it switched and suddenly pink was for girls and blue was for boys.

My highschool TRIED to ban durags and any headwear that wasn’t a hijab/religious headwear. At a mostly black highschool. It didn’t last

The idea of throwing a watermelon at some kid's head is kind of funny though

for an entire semester in middle school we had a student teacher alongside the actual one, who banned any mention of Danny Devito. The first time she had heard him mentioned in passing she said "We do NOT talk about that man." in a tone that made him seem like satan himself. We asked multiple times but she never elaborated and we never found out why she hated Danny Devito so much.

was the watermelon kid committing a premeditated crime or was it a spur of the moment thing

My school banned clapping more than 3 times because everyone wanted to be the last person to clap so it became a clapfest every time

The word purple has been banned at my school to search on Google for years now because the art teacher wants us to use "violet" instead of "purple" because purple "isn't the right word, it's slang" 🙏

I don’t really know or remember what was banned from my primary school (except the word gay), but I remember this one time during break/recess where one of the supply teachers put me in timeout because she saw me staring at a puddle. Not jumping in it. Just standing in front of it and staring at my own reflection. I really don’t know what the hell the problem was.

My drama school banned 'roasting' because some of the younger students thought people were gonna literally roast them on a grill.

Imagine being a principal, you walk past a classroom and you watch the teacher throw a kid outside the window shouting "NEVER SAY THE WORD 'GOOD' AGAIN IN MY CLASSROOM! YOU SHOULD USE BETTER WORDS!"

My school banned any kind of pda like hugging or holding hands because it "encouraged unwanted relationships".

We were in elementary 😭😭😭

My school did the thing against groups of three. But this girl in our class put up a sign about banning assembly in Nazi Germany. They never officially recanted the rule but they quietly stopped enforcing it

My whole school district banned tag because "it promoted hitting other kids and running in unsafe areas". But soccer, where many kids got kicked in the face and the students for some reason didn't wear shoes, was okay!

I personally got banned from playing hide and seek in 2nd grade because one time I hid in a bush and then ran away to hide at the playground but everybody still thought I was in the bush and the entire 2nd grade class was standing by the bush saying I got eaten by a tiger 😭

In elementary school they banned talking during lunch. We all had to sit and eat in the cafeteria in complete silence or else we'd get detention.

My middleschool banned gloves that werent fingerless and hats because of “gang signs” and i remember thinking ‘why do schools have so many rules in place to prevent gangs went i haven’t seen a single one in schools in my entire life or ever heard of one’

In elementry school they banned talking about undertale for some reason

Offsite aren't banned in my school, but if they were, I would just watch them offsite!
