The McStay Family Murders | The Chase Merritt Trial | PART TWO

In 2013, nearly four years after the McStay family disappeared from their home in Fallbrook, California, their remains were discovered in shallow graves in the Mojave Desert.
Joseph McStay, his wife Summer, and their two young sons Gianni and Joseph Jr. had vanished without a trace in February 2010.
For years, investigators believed the family had voluntarily crossed the border into Mexico. But the discovery of the graves changed everything.
In Part Two of the McStay Family Murders, we examine the investigation that followed the desert discovery and the case that prosecutors built against Joseph McStay’s business associate, Chase Merritt.
Was the evidence strong enough to prove Merritt’s guilt beyond reasonable doubt? Or does the McStay family case still leave troubling questions unanswered?

Eta...but thanks for giving me another author to read.
Bleach reacts w/ luminol the same as it does w/ blood & bodily fluids. It’s only a presumptive test anyway. It would need confirmatory testing afterward & if the samples taken were primarily bleach, you cannot further separate the samples, in order to confirm blood or DNA.
Also, CODIS needs high allele counts in order to be uploaded. The DNA wasn’t strong enough to even compare 1:1; in no way would it be suitable for CODIS.
I’d like to point out—the prosecutor in this case is the SAME prosecutor who got a guilty verdict in Robert Durst’s case!
I find this case really frustrating bc the evidence COULD have been found, had the cops given a sh** about an entire family gone missing! ✌️💜
