Hi there, I have just had the very same fault with my 1980 R100RT. The high beam worked on the flash mode but no main or high beam nor tail light. I did as you did, opened up the headlight bucket, had a poke around, disconnected and reconnected some wires and hey presto lights again. Not a clue what the issue was, I just check I have lights before heading off now.PS, like your content, always interesting.

Hi JL and thanks for the video. You're probably already aware, however if you need parts or service on your BM, Thorsten at BM Bikes in Jandakot is a good man to deal with.

I once had a problem with my R100RT where the engine would cut out when I honked the horn or used the high beams while riding. Everything went off, even the clock stopped. I searched for ages... and it turned out to be the fuses on the fuse holder inside the headlight. Over the decades, an oxide layer had built up between the fuse and the retaining plate. Every time a lot of current flowed, it probably got hot there, and the circuit was blocked. I cleaned everything with a wire brush, and never had the problem again. None of it made any sense, and I'm actually a mechanic by trade.

I think you should sell the RT to me no more problems 😉
