What Happened To Diva Starz?

Diva Starz was a line of talking dolls released by Mattel in 2000. Originally created as a response to Furby, the robotic dolls started as a more fashionable and interactive version of the talking toy. But as time went on, Diva Starz found new competition in Bratz, causing them to eventually evolve into full-fledged fashion dolls.

I dug into the short but impactful run of Diva Starz, including its beloved lost web series and games. Plus a look into the ways it influenced the doll lines of today.

So I realized after editing this entire video that I totally forgot to calculate for inflation! $30 in 2000 is about $56 today, so Diva Starz would have sold for about $50 in today's money. Barbie dolls apparently sold for about $20 at the time, so considering how many features the Diva Starz dolls came with, I'd still say that was a pretty decent deal! Anyways, if you watched the video and read this comment, I think you're cool-omatic💖

Hello!

I actually wanted to drop in and say that I’m the owner of that Diva Starz channel. I uploaded all of the currently available webisodes and the other goodies from the brand. I was heavily inspired by someone doing the same with the My Scene brand. I was also the one to find the pitch bible, which definitely was a hot mess lmfaooo

But this was a really fun video! You did a great job!! 💜

I remember the Diva starz website games as well. I never got any of the dolls, but at least I had fun playing on their website.

I remember having some of the Diva Starz stuff (from dolls and talking pets) back in the early 2000s! I even went on their website whenever it was my turn to use the computer! Looking back I think that they and Bratz made me think that words that ended with Z were cool!

Loved these dolls so much! I had wave 2 Summer and one of the Alexa McDonald's toys! I remember they did Talking Bratz several years later and I had Sasha, but it wasn't the same level of recognizing clothes and stuff since it was just a regular doll on a platform.

This video was awesome! I would always get Diva Stars and Radio Disney Pop Dreamers dolls mixed up as a kid since they both had the snap-on clothing similar body designs. If you're looking for ideas on more abstract / unique toy lines, I think the Radio Disney Pop Dreamers might make an interesting video. IDK what Disney's big plan was, but I remember LOVING the CD that was tied to the franchise
