There are more knife crimes per capita in US than UK, however as far as guns you really beat us on that one.

It is a lot more difficult to commit a massacre with a knife.

Strac no matter what the statistics tell you or what anyone says, serious knife crime per capita is lower in the than in the US. A scrap is fists not knives

She did get the joke she was laughing on your freeze frame, he was saying it to keep the humour going

Knives are no joke but you've got more chance of outrunning a guy with a knife than a bullet. You'd be surprised how fast you can run when you see that blade.

Very few people get stabbed in the UK.

You can dodge knives but with guns you can be shot from a distance, and it would be easier to dismantle a knife from somebodys hand than get shot while trying to.

Knife crime isn't a problem everywhere in the UK, (I am not looking at statistics at the moment) but a scrap in the UK is a fist fight.  We also have stop and search, and cameras everywhere. Knife crime is less frequent and not something everyone worries about on a daily basis.  It is something that we know exists.  I can walk late at night quite safely where I live and have never had a worry about knife crime, not to say it never happens, but if you add guns just in case then there is the starting if how America is now.  😊

According to the local paper, most of the violence hereabouts in rural Scotland seems to be drunken punch-ups outside the pubs and nightclubs on weekend nights, followed by domestic violence and hitting girlfriends. Knife crime is pretty rare but with the occasional prosecution for the possession of a knife. Mugging is very rare. As for gun crime - not one case in decades locally I can recall.

They just released the list of the 100 most dangerous cities in the world. The first UK city was Birmingham at 73. London wasn’t on the list. There were about 20 US cities on the list. Knife crime is highly reported because it is exceptional. I’ve lived all over the country and have only ever seen a handful of fights, none of them involved a knife.

I lived in Venezuela in the 90's. We had 800 to 900 murders every weekend in Caracas. Yes, I open carried. As a Brit it felt a little odd but needed.

In the UK, knife crime includes carrying a knife with a blade bigger than three inches, without lawful reason. Self defense does count as good reason. So just being in possession of certain types of knives is included in the crime figures.

A common misconception is that countries with gun control don't have guns. What we have is laws that prevent people from legally owning them unless they have gone through a legal process to ensure that they are responsible and trained.

Hey Strac, don't know if you've watched it yet or not, but Russell howards us v uk ebola news coverage is a must watch, it's really funny! 😊

Aussie here. We have some high profile stabbings, blown out by the media. Nonetheless, over all, our gun control did not incress knife crime. Our gun laws aren't as strick as Britain, which could be a factor. Strac you are wrong that a gun will save you, if someone is comeing at you with a knife. Up close, guns are to slow. Even without a knife, try pull a gun on someone in Australia, you will get a glass to your face, before you get it out of the holster. I've seen it myself, and that was before gun laws.

The best advice you can ever get for a fight is to run away, especially if your opponent is armed but you can't run from a gun and you have to be pretty good at throwing to kill someone with a knife that's running away. Guns don't have the same limit so are far scarier to me.

If you shoot someone, prison is exactly where you belong.

In a perfect world we wouldnt need pews except for blowing things up in our backyards for fun😂

Knife crime is awful. And one knife crime makes NATIONAL HEADLINES. I’ve never seen a gun. Knife crime is usually drug related. We’re not perfect but we have measures that our kids can sleep. And we lost 3 kids recently that caused a national outcry. From a lunatic. Safety and freedom must mean two different things. What are gun drills and gun lock downs in schools. Not a thing in the UK. 😢

Knife crime gets reported here because there isn't Gun Crimes to report on but in the US, there is MORE Knife Crime than the UK per capita but it never gets reported because Gun Crime is so high and they don't have enough time/space to talk about it. Its funny how Americans talk about Knife crime being an 'issue' in the UK when its even worse in the US, but Gun Crime is significantly hiigher/worse than their Knife Crime.

Fights may happen, but its with fists - not Knives and Knives are often what 'gangs' use because Guns are basically illegal and extremely difficult to get hold of.

Whilst you can't stop 'crime', I'd still rather live in the UK where Guns are not everywhere and even the chances of being attacked by a knife weilding criminal is significantly lower than the US...
