but do they teleport bread for three days?

I feel like Iroh gave it all up because with the death of his son, he grew to understand all of his destruction in a deeply personal way. The war that fueled Iroh took everything that mattered.

the warrior in a garden archetype hits me super hard

I think the main reason why I love the Soldier archetype so much is because more often than not it's an earned one (in fact, I almost don't consider super soldiers part of it).

The Soldier does not rely on external talent without which they would be nothing.
The Soldier was there, showed up, did things, paid prices and got busy.
Pinnacle of the underdog, imo

What about Gardeners in a war? Pulls samwise out of pocket

Leaves from the vine
Falling so slow
Like fragile tiny shells
Drifting in the foam.

Little soldier boy
Come marching home...
Brave soldier boy
Come marching home...

As a former infantryman who works in a 100 acre garden and with plant people, I think I'd take Iraq over this probably 49% of the time.

“Leaves from the vine,
Falling so slow,
Like fragile tiny shells,
Drifting in the foam.”

Another warrior in the garden archerype I'd like to mention is Thors and Thorfinn from Vinland Saga.

When you think about it, we’ve had whole generations that became warriors in the garden. Plenty were broken by the world wars, and the ones who weren’t broken were scarred, but most went on to lead normal, peaceful lives. I think of people like Eugene Sledge or veterans I know personally, they have such an allure because living through horrors we could never imagine, they appreciate peace and beauty in ways we fortunate enough to not go to war never can.

I was expecting 4. to be The Washout. A soldier who collapsed without the structure.

i will not stand for the sokka slander. serious sokka is an unstoppable killing machine and if he wasn't goofing around he'd be op. especially come season 3 he's ready to throw hands with comet powered firebenders

You know that most soldiers come home from war and become the warrior in a garden.  Yeah some of us struggle with that at first but we eventually adapt.

Uncle Iroh is the GOAT

9:21 avatar is a kids show with mature themes in my opinion

This is the idea of the “human knight in a party of weirdos”. DnD specifically. Human fighter man, and they are SO fun to play and a beloved party member.

"I Chose This Life. I know What I'm Doing. On Any Given Day, I Could Stop Doing It. Today however isn't that day and tomorrow won't be either"

-Batman/Bruce Wayne.

"Sokka probably failed more than anyone else in the show."

Zuki edgelording in the corner: "Yeah, let's go with that."

Pretty sure Audie Murphy is a solid contender for a IRL success story.

He came out of world war 2 as the most decorated soldier in us military history. Wrote an autobiography on his experiences in the war titled "to help and back" and even played and stared in his own role when they turned it to a movie.
