I actually like that Michael seems different in Halloween II.

As far as what Michael is, I like to think in the original he's still a man. Clearly being void of all humanity and driven by something dark but still a mortal human being.

After Loomis shoots him and he falls off the balcony, I like to believe Michael is dead. Who gets up and walks away is...the shape, the boogeyman. The darkness inside him now has complete control. Michael is simply a vessel of evil.

CIP not only makes a person unable to feel pain. Certain side effects and symptoms could get the patient stuck in a child mindset were they cannot communicate. So as he kills if you notice as the night progresses he gets more vicious and creative. In the novels from Michael’s POV he is killing and interested in seeing the persons reactions to the pain. He gets euphoric felling. When he sets up the bodies. it’s like a child playing with toys. That’s why he sets things up and gets intrigued looking at the victim he gets bored when the victim dies. Then he moves to the next victim. But as the night goes on he gets more aggressive and starts to learn more i think. Remember he was in a hospital for 15 years. This is the first time he’s out in normal environment. He could be slowing down because he’s hurt and doesn’t realize it. Also CIP another side effect is freakish strength. It’s unbelievable nobody ever mentioned this. Maybe Carpenter knew this.

When I was a teen back in the 80s I preferred Halloween 2 to the original. I liked that it was more of a standard slasher.

But as I got older I was able to appreciate original more and now its simplicity and atmosphere make it the best.

I still think Halloween 2 is a solid sequel as long as it’s the last one. Aka the Halloween 1 & 2 only timeline.

The second they started making more and leaned way too into Michael killing relatives then it gets watered down. Because Michael works best when there is no motive.

The sister reveal was a nice “wow” moment for the end of 2 and if we ended at 2 it would be okay. But once we got Jamie his niece (thorn timeline) and going after Laurie in H20 (h20 timeline) it just robbed Michael of what it is (channeling Dr Loomis).

I think that Halloween II is a fine sequel and scarier than the original film. I watch it every October.

Poor Ben Tramer. It's not Loomis' fault the cop not only ran into him crossing the street on Halloween, but also crashed into the van. I think the officer was drunk. He said that Ben "came out of nowhere", but what about the van? 😅

Not only is H2 better and scarier than the original (and best movie in the series), it has the best version of him. Michael in the first movie was fine, but the second really captures and portrays how Loomis described him in the first movie, this inhuman, empty force of nature, which the first movie lacked in portraying compared to the sequel. Also, while the mystery of why he's after Laurie is solved (technically, we knew why he was after her in the first, because she trespassed on his house), it actually adds FURTHER mystery to Michael. How did he know Laurie was his sister when he saw her, why is he trying to kill her, how does he seem to know where she is? Also, making them siblings adds a uniqueness that's different from other slasher/final girl relationships, which is just random encounters between strangers.

Can you make a video about how he shifts through shadows? I know the doc made the theory in the movie and now it's in the game which is why I'm curious now. I'm sure a lot of ppl that watched recently are also more curious bc of the game coming out so I'm sure this channel is gonna blow up lol keep it up bro

I'd love for you to do this for the sequels. While Michael is slightly different in 2, he's still Michael. However, the next films diverge even more.

I love how much thought and care you put into your videos , true horror fan,  another great video👍 , I kind of like the CIP idea but I think Micheal Myers does feel pain when Laurie kicks him in the balls in H20 you can see by his eyes he feels it also when the sheriff and locals shoot him in Halloween 4 he reacts to the pain,  keep up the great work👏

I disagree with the notion that the sister plot line in this movie ruins the mystery or really gives him a reason. Because someone being your sister isn’t a reason to kill them and then there’s all of the other people he kills. He’s still a mystery he just also has a main target which justifies Jamie Lee returning in this film and h20.

Halloween ll is a really good sequal to the franchise. The fact that they kept it on the same night actually added a scare factor that works. As for Michael Mayers, this is my favorite take on him since the first, Someone hellbent on getting his target.
Know their are a couple of things i have a problem with this film, first off even though this took place the same night as the first, his mask looks really worn out. Also the reveal of Michael and Laurie as siblings is something i've never really enjoy about the originals films. Overall a great film.

As im in my 40s now i can see that the first 3 Halloween movies are far superior than the sequels

The sequel understood just fine. All it did was give Michael a reason and a simple one. There were still things beyond that reason that could be explored (why did he need to kill his sister, and why was he evil and superhuman, etc.) but the original left so many things open-ended worthy of being explored, the sequel didn't really retcon anything given there was little explained to begin with. All we knew was that he killed his older sister and was evil, nothing about his upbringing, full family members, why he was evil, you name it. The movie was just slowly filling in the blanks. My only complaint was him moving slow but that's because it's a different actor who was given different direction on how to portray the guy. You can't really say in-universe it's due to him being shot when he's noticeably stronger here so he should be able to walk just fine.

For those that dislike the sibling angle or tying Michael to anything occultic, one could see the movie playing out just fine without the elementary school break in and perhaps Marion comes across Loomis some other way...like investigating Alice's death at her house which we never see play out so that makes for a good alternative...and we remove Laurie's dream, but then we have to have a reason for Loomis to wind up at the hospital. Laurie can't really call for help because all the power was gone so it seems the sibling angle was the best bet because then Loomis could guess Michael would target her there again and furthermore, find him. Without that, he has nowhere left to go with the case so in the end, this all works.
