Drayton is the older brother of leatherface and hitchhiker not their father.

Both Franklin & Leatherface are oddly enough, a bit on the spectrum side of things too. And both big boned characters. Not that this matters necessarily. But I do think it lends more believability and credence to things too. Franklin is forced to confront himself in a big way. Just as Sally is forced to confront her long lost grandpa of all people and family. I think it's all a twisted inversion of family dynamics and as Tobe said, that one bad day... As well as the Sunspot's, horoscopes & the likes. It's all a huge part of what makes TCM so fascinating

I developed a theory a few years back that is very similar to this - only it's from Sally's perspective. Leatherface basically represents how Franklin torments her. When she finally escapes, she's laughing because she is unburdened by Franklin. We also don't see Franklin get killed - it's absolutely implied but it's the only death we can't see. I agree - that's when Franklin becomes LF. The dance at the end also supports the idea that Franklin is reveling in being able to use his legs in this revenge fantasy.

This is wild, you basically turned it into Silent Hill. I have a lot of thoughts on that because the way the continuity is so completely fucked with the first four each being like "that LAST sequel sucked but trust me it'll be good this time I promise." That's all just those movie's problems but there are people out there who really do insist all these movies are in the same timeline... some... how... and they have these wacky ideas of how to make this stuff fit, and it gets to the point where you have to wonder if we've got four distinct families all doing the same thing at the same time right down to the mask wearing chainsaw guy, is Texas just full to the brim with crazy cannibal guys? I mean it wasn't when I lived there, but I lived in Houston and DFW, from what I saw of west Texas it could be idunno.

So, between that, the weird illuminati visit in 4, the astrology stuff, the vampire stuff, and like... SOMETHING is going on here. I'm not trying to say Leatherface is a deadite or anything like that, but something clearly isn't right here. I don't buy that these are just crazy hillbillies. I'm tempted to say I don't literally believe that the family is a manifestation of Franklin's emotions, because that's a very high fantasy concept when taken literally and it clearly sounds more like a metaphorical reasoning. But like... why not? The text crawl in all the sequels contradict each other, the members of the family are different every time, but there's always a big guy with a weird mask and a giant knife... like how certain are we that this isn't Silent Hill? Maybe they're like psychic vampires who take the form of their victim's greatest fear? Or... something.

Anwyas, my point is, art is awesome, I'm so glad people keep making it, and also Leatherface is a vampire, but he's also Pyramid Head, and he built the pyramids, he has a pyramid for a head, and the pyramids were built from the top down. I mean that's all I'm really tying to say. Leatherface built the pyramids inside of Silent Hill.

Don't worry guys I'm not high, I just really think that Leatherface built the pyramids. What was I writing again?

And Sally borrows his knife, later he asks for his knife back and she’s lost it the one item he had to “protect” himself. The knife is the chainsaw in the mirror reflection of Franklin and Leatherface.

Just another interesting tidbit to think about: Franklin and Leatherface are the only LIVING characters we see get cut by the chainsaw. I don't count Kirk because he's already dead and you don't really see what the chainsaw does to him. Franklin is butchered to death by the chainsaw, and Leatherface gets his leg cut by the chainsaw. Very interesting.

Interesting theory

Like Hereditary, their mom made Sally take him on this trip the way the mom in Hereditary made her son take the daughter.  The son’s “friends” mock her and he doesn’t say much. The couple at the dried up waterhole kinda do a similar thing where they say something about Franklins weight.

Franklin ?  You mean the guy in the wheelchair in Part one !!!!

"Well there's this trail there between them two sheds..."

I thought the thing with Sally wanting to leave Franklin by the car was kind of reasonable? Like, she’s really worried about her friends and she wants to look for them. She wants to leave her brother at the car which is the closest thing they have to a safe place. And yeah she doesn't want to bring him with her, but that's for pure practicality. If something goes wrong and shit really does hit the fan she isn’t going to be able to get him out quickly. And of course she wants the flashlight. If the car in her mind is safety then he wouldn't need it. Yeah she could've been nicer about it, but she's scared and Franklin as you said, is super annoying. Ultimately Franklin coming with her is what leads to his death. If he had listened to her than maybe he would've made it out.

I obviously understand Franklin's frustration with all of this, but Sally isn't necessarily wrong.

Interesting theroy. But if you really watch it you'll realise that it's actually one of the most subtle cosmic horror movies out there. Zodiacs, horoscopes, Saturn in retrograde, Capricorn is ruled by Saturn. Sally is a Capricorn. Also if you really think about it, the family are using some type of black magic to allow grampa and possibly themselves to live forever with blood rituals ect... all of the bone shrines/offerings even the corpse in the opening of the movie. Also the strange symbol the hitch-hiker writes on the van with blood. It definitely deals in some type of black magic which can be easily overlooked if you're not paying attention.

It was tobacco he was chewing on.

I dont think leatherface killing them was random, they broke into his house, he was protecting his home. Ive got a shotgun, he had a chainsaw😁

Isn’t the wheelchair Grandpa’s?

Interesting.Very good points. If anyone wanted them dead it would be Franklin. One other thing that always puzzled me.Sally and Franklin are siblings, correct? In part two,Lefty says he's looking for the Sawyers for what they did to Franklin and calls him little brother. He never mentions Sally. Not once.Did he not care about her too?Sure, they could have been estranged but I would've liked more context.

the cook is actually a brother to hitchhiker and leatherface

People need to talk about its similarities to the houston mass murders there's so many

Also the cook and hitchiker both go in detail about the new ways of slaughterhouse equiptment. They do a big speech about how grandpa had shame because of it and hitch talks about in detail in the car. Franklin talked about it before they even picked him up. Both obsessed with that methods.
